Hello all! I'm a day away from being the owner of a 2017 jaguar xe 35t prestige! I'm quite excited to say the least!!!

I'm sorry if this isn't the correct board to ask this but I wanted your help to find out what type of media system I have because the dealership doesn't show it on the specs.

I believe it's an 8inch screen and it has the 4 buttons on the left and right. I can post a picture if you guys want me to clarify.

The reason why im trying to figure out this out is because I wanted to see if I can update the panel to have Android auto/car play. I've already noticed some issues with Bluetooth connectivity on the test drive.

Thank you!

If its 8" screen with physical buttons down the sides then its the InControl i.e. not the IC 'Touch', if so then I believe it won't support Apple whatever it's called or Android CarPlay . If it's like mine then it will struggle with Jag's own App. depending on your phone and cable. No great loss there imho. I don't have issues with bluetooth though.

Yes that is same as mine and will be the InControl version. There will no doubt be a load of software updates available, if you report the issue to your dealer then they will book you in and update it under warranty. Mine is booked in (they want it for 2 days so waiting on availability of a courtesy car).

Apple Car Play and Android Auto is not available on this model. That is available on the later ICT Pro with Smartphone Pack.

I'm a bit uncomfortable with a vendor on the link that can only be contacted through the OP of that topic.
Not to mention warranty issues etc.
Buyer beware.

As for the Chinese Unit mentioned above...

I inquired about it but haven't bought. The seller is available on Alibaba. I guess it depends on how comfortable you are dealing with importing from China on a high expenditure item. The price listed on Alibaba is $725-755 USD. Generally, they want 5 items, but I believe you can talk them down to 1.

As for upgrading the InTouch Control unit...

I have spent a lot of time researching since I got my XE with ICT. Their is no practical way to upgrade from ICT to ICT Pro. The suggestion of JLR and Meridian is if you want ICT Pro then choose an auto that has it installed. It's not just a change of head unit, there are 4 changes necessary and different wiring and even a different delivery system of the signal to the different amp which goes through an extra unit located between the head unit and the amp.

I purchased a JBL MS-8 DSP to clean up the signal after the factory amp and deliver to the speakers. I believe this may be the only way to get it to work. That won't help with Carplay or Android Auto. The built in app handles Apple products pretty well, so some of the basic functionality you are used to with Carplay may be available in some form. However, support from Android devices is pretty primitive at least in my limited experience, even after I got a factory update. Everyone above are quite correct that this ICT unit is not being offered the Carplay/Android Auto update. Hope that helps.
