Hi all

Placed an order for a Jaguar XE 2.0 deisel (180ps) in Caldera Red from Lancaster Reading. Extras;

Pro navigation pack
Privacy glass
Parking pack
Auto dimming power fold wing mirrors

Moving from a Honda HRV (2016 model) 1.6 deisel. Always wanted a Jaguar ever since the XJS.

picked my xe up 4 weeks ago from Lancaster Reading - loving it so far.

Not normally a fan or red cars but think the XE looks quite good in it ( I still went for caesium blue though)

What was the handover like RedAndBlue?

I would've gone for Cesium Blue but I hate paying extra for paint!

Sorry missed your question!

I thought handover was good. Did the whole presentation in the Hanover bay and spun the car on the turn table, keys with key rings in a nice presentation box and flowers and chocolates for the missus. They gave me a basic run through of the controls etc and call them if any issues. I didn't want to spend too long on the handover as wanted to drive the car and prefer to sit and play with controls and manual in my own time on the drive. Still loving the car, ride and handling are fantastic. I love the technology but then I moved up from a 9 year old a3 and the tech has come a long way in that time

I don't know what to make of the whole red satin cover thing on handover. The turntable is a good idea though. Missus was badgering the salesman for one of the ride on baby Jag's for our little one so will be interesting to see if they throw one in!

Slightly off topic but when I traded my MG Maestro in for a Rover I went back a few days later to see my MG on a turntable with flood lighting on it. I should have bought it back it looked so good displayed like that.

I've asked for a May 2018 delivery to coincide with my current Honda HRV lease car being returned. Had an update from the dealer yesterday saying they are expecting it to be ready in April 2018.

Hi All
Glad I found this forum.
Ordered my first Jaguar from Beadles Watford in December
2.0 PETROL Prestige
Firenza Red
Parking Pack
Meridian Sound System
Alloy space saver wheel (hate the gunge packs they give as standard)
18'' 5 spoke style 5030
Parking pack
Auto-Dimming, Power Fold, Heated door mirrors with Approach Lights
The car is due end of April.
Yesterday I arraigned the factory trip which the dealer is going to pay for. Will be a good run to take the cat back to where it was born.
Never been on a car test drive where I have been left shaking with adrenaline and excitement.
Can't wait. only 55 sleeps to go!!

Hi Markk.......welcome to impending XE ownership.
I got a 200 Prestige in Corris in January. The choice between that and Firenze was a hard one as the red is very attractive.
Similar spec to you apart from your bigger wheels and Meridian.
I added 40/20/40 for a bit more flexibility ( other cars are SUV's) and have already found that pretty useful
When the car came it had Xenons/washers which were FOC as not ordered. Driving with them next to a friend's Halogen 200 the difference is very noticeable.
When speccing the car I took advice from forum members which helped.
I would not care to advise on any tech bits/ options as I confess still to be tentatively trying to understand them !
Do consider the service plan which seems good value.

Factory tour is well worth doing.....you will enjoy it.

Only 55 days........

Hi Prestige
Thank you for your reply
How are you enjoying yours
Like a lot of people the spec was down to budget.
I did take out the service plan as that that seems a no brainer.
My dealer Beedles Watford, had an open day to show off their brand new state of the art showroom and had a Corris XE on display. I was very very tempted to change to it but did not in the end.
Thought about the Xenon lighting pack but at £1225.00 to steep.
Have access to a van for long things and don't go skiing.
When I decided to change over my current car which is a 14 plate Seat Leon 1.4 FR (very good solid car) I looked at a Golf GTI which I was offered a stupid cheap and a VW Tiguan.
It was only when I looked at what rates were available for PCP and a base spec Jaguar came up an slightly more than my budget.
I the went for a test drive and was blown away.
By the end of the deal, the budget was long gone, then I went back and upgraded the hi-fi. Then went back and changed the wheels
Only 40 days.....

Hi Markk,At least 15 days of your XE wait have lapsed since the last post ! My XE experience is going OK though I confess as I have been away a lot it hasn't had the "running in " miles I would have liked to do. Must do better ! I put the basic essentials on largely as advised by the forum....didn't go for the bigger wheels and Meridian as you did,the standard ones are OK for me.
Got the Xenons as a freebie and they are very, very good. I agree that no way would I have paid such a lot of money for them either, but they are very useful on fast unlit roads around where I live.
I did ask about All weather tyres from new but the price was stupid at the dealer. I know a guy who works at the Wolves Ingenium plant who drives a 15 white XE with very lovely wheels who has bought a set of plain steel wheels with All Weathers plus a trolley jack for £600 from ebay. He tells me that the snow difference is very noticeable. My snowy weather XE experience thus far hasn't been good but it is probably my poor use of the gizmos to assist traction.
Not sure if you can spec your tyres from Beadles but worth a think ?
I was let down on the expected PCP deal which ended 31/12 suddenly, when I had asked for a 2018 reg so do check that your expectations are delivered.....mine weren't and it is annoying and caused bitterness at the dealers.
Do try the factory tour.....you will love it.

Hi Prestige
Have not put too much thought in to the tyres. I just assumed that you get what the factory has in stock at the time and providing that are a premium brand, which they should be I am not to fussed.
I know that snow is an issue, but was told by the dealer that they have the snowy weather traction assist gizmo, so will make sure I fully understand that.
As for the Jaguar Finance contribution, I was able to secure that, plus negotiate a healthy discount as I know the Sales Manger as he had sold me my Seat at another dealer.
May I ask what issues did you have, when your expectations were not delivered.

Hi Markk. Hindsight is wonderful....if I knew then what I now know I would have asked for All Weather tyres. The PCP problem was that I ordered in July with Carwow discount and a £1532 PCP contribution. I thought that was an "agreed"deal. I was away in New Zealand when the car arrived and did not want a Dec reg car so asked for a Jan delivery.
When I arranged collection in Jan and filled in the PCP forms I was told that the contribution ended 31/12 so no £1532 !
I therefore paid cash for it as I only wanted PCP for the contribution.
So.....the "agreed" deal that I thought I had got had suddenly ended . I was not aware that it was finite so more than a bit miffed ! You will now see that when Jag finance deals are promoted they seemingly have a start and finish date ( not unreasonable) but if,as in my case, actual delivery is after the finish date there is no contribution. Even if the deal was "agreed" during the period. My lesson ? Get much more in writing as I had very little evidence.

Hi Prestige
The Jaguar Finance deal was on whilst I paid the deposit and signed the paper work in the middle of December and as did yours finished 31st December. They gave me a build date of 13th April and in the dealer by 27th April.
Having checked all the details it clearly states that I have the Jaguar Finance contribution and I will not accept any variation on that.

Hi Prestige
Sent a couple of e-mail to the sales guy at the dealer and got no reply which is most unusual as he would normally by return.
Rang the dealer up and was told that he had gone back to their service department where he had previously worked.
Apparently I should have been told and a new sales person appointed to me. No one has been.

Does not fill me full of confidence.

Nor I Markk ! Without going over all the same ground ( see before),when I had the disappointing news I discussed with the dealer the " then new" Jag finance offer which from memory only applied to the 250 ( nothing for the 200) and it was I think a very generous £3600 PCP contribution. I asked....shall I cancel the 200 and reorder a 250 on the new deal ?. It would have been a very similar end cost due to the contribution on one,not the other.
I was told....only if you take one from stock, not if you want to spec your own as end of March delivery can't t be guaranteed and who knows if the finite deal will be carried over ! They said that the same problem could occur again.
Thus the reason I raised the issue. Hope it is better for you than me !

Hi Prestige
Gets better. just had a phone call from the new sales person.
Told me that the car will now be a month later that I have been told. That would have been nearly 6 months from when I ordered the car.
Had I know that it would have been this long, i wold not have ordered it.
Said that it will have cost implications for me and if I don't get it when agreed, I don't want the car.
Many not end up as a Jaguar owner afterall

That snow gizmo won't help you in the snow, as ALL UK XE's leave the factory with summer tyres fitted and they are useless in snow rwd or awd. I have switched my Continental ditchfinders to the Michelin Cross Climate Plus all season tyres. The car is a revelation in snow and we've had a lot in Yorkshire over the last month and my rwd has gone everywhere in a straight line. I've used the snow mode and it works because it is putting the power down through tyres that are designed to claw through snow and not sit on the top, like an ice hockey puck, that describes summer tyres whose rubber goes solid under 7 degrees!

Whilst I appreciate your enthusiasm for cross climates and it's good advice in winter conditions I have to take issue with your last remark.
Do you not think that is a bit of an exaggeration?

Phil, it's a proven fact that Summer tyres rubber compound goes hard at below 7 degrees, notice all the TV news recently, cars spinning the tyres are sitting on top of the snow, like a puck on ice. The tyre compound not been supple enough to drop into the snow and claw forward.

Below clearly shows the difference and yes these are summer and winter tyres but the new All season is designed to have the best of both.

No arguments at all about winters and all seasons being better in the snow.
But I am not talking about snow conditions.
I certainly don't mind people putting forward the merits of winters and all seasons etc but why have a dig at summer tyres in the process?
There seems to be this suggestion that as soon as it goes below 7 degrees summer tyres will be totally undriveable when that's far from the case.

Yesterday it was down to +1 here.
Roads were dry and clear.
I went out on my Summer tyres most of the morning and everything was fine with normal braking and grip and I survived.
I didn't go off the road with my "ditchfinders".
:D
When I got home I put a hand on the tyre and despite it being only just over freezing the tyres were actually hot!
Maybe that's why they felt just as good as normal and certainly weren't hard like puck!

Let's just have a bit of sensible balance to prevent those who don't know better becoming recluses just because it's below 7 degrees when the roads are clear?
