Looking for some advice we recently picked our XE R Sport 2.5T it's a 2017 model, promptly broke the rear passenger light lense, so I picked up a replacement on eBay with the same part number, but it had no bulb space for the indicator there are only 3 slots on the new one as opposed to 4 on the current broken lense

Have I got a wrong part as apart from the no indicator bulb slot it's identical Hood Bicycle part Automotive design Bumper Rim

Motor vehicle Bumper Gas Automotive exterior Automotive design

Any help would be appreciated

Obviously a design change as there are more wires on the plug. Does the blanking on the other one screw out? It looks like it is screwed in and the old lamp fitting may just plug into the space. You will have to put more wiring in there then, I think.

Presuming the bottom picture is the current broken one..... There are only 6 wires in the picture. 2 wires going to three connectors. The 4th connector has no wires going into it and the picture says "not used" next it to.

I would therefore guess from the pictures that the 4th connection is not used hence why on the replacement it has no black connector anyway.

It isn't something like a US model is it ? where they have no indicators (rear brake lights flash) ?
I think you have hit the nail on the head.

SAE is not used if a USA version imho. I have a UK spec one and it has an amber bulb as normal although the slot says "SAE not used" & "ECE WY16W" which makes sense. No amber bulb fitted is a USA spec with amber bulb is ECE Europe spec.

Who did you buy it from? It would be strange to sell USA parts in the UK?? Have you tried it on the car?

just looked at that and its not actually a blanking plug its moulded so there is no way to fit the existing bulb, there is no hole to put it in, will either try to undo the torx screws and replace the lens or i might return it and get another one, this time i will ask for a picture of the back as well !

The Torx screws seem odd size I tried to remove them and failed.
If you can find out its history and how a USA spec light ended up for sale!!

If it actually is USA spec?? Have you tried plugging it in? Does it light up? Flash Red?

when i connected it nothing happened when using the indicator but all the other lights worked, no reply from the vendor yet

the torx screws are called tamper proof you need a 5 pointed bit to remove them but i am not sure if those will allow just the lens to be removed, this would be the fastest solution as the light was £110 so far cheaper than sourcing a new one

Now I have got a replacement from the seller with the right number of bulbs, he said the one I had with 3 bulbs was a Euro spec one not UK not sure I buy that to be fair but I have the right one now and it works perfectly

Thanks for all help

Good luck if try undoing those screws 😀
