Re: Traffic alerts

It depends on the radio station sending out some sort of "end of TA" signal
If it doesn't, the car radio will assume that all this is part of the TA.

Re: Michelin PS4s tyres

Yes, the Sottozeros are winter tyres. The tyre dealer said they're ideal for N. Ireland conditions all year round. And that just about all their staff were using them. And that their wear was good. I've used them for years, so I don't doubt their advice. I'll be able to judge the wear in about anoth...

Re: Michelin PS4s tyres

I've just replaced all the tyres from the original Dunlop.
On the recommendation of my local tyre specialist, I've fitted Pirelli Sottozero.
They feel like a great improvement so far.
Quieter as well.

Re: TMPS fault after fitting new (used) alloys

At 25,000 miles, the original tyres are getting low on tread, so I got a quote from the dealer.
I enquired if I needed to change the TPMS sensors, and was told that they cost about the same as a new tyre for each wheel, and that they need to be calibrated to the car - at about the same. EACH.

Re: XE myths and facts

Recently, I took mine in to the main dealer for an annual oil change, although one isn't due for another year.
The agreed it, an did an oil change service for £250.
They also did a thorough check of everything -even tyre wear - and reported it.
I felt it was well worth it.

Re: 160 hp vs 180hp diesel advice

Between the two engines. Engine design is ALWAYS a compromise between power, economy and emissions. According to someone who was involved, the 163 hp option was engineered to beat the 99 GM limit for free car tax, mainly for company buyers. And the 180 was far better balanced. I bought the 180 on hi...

Re: Key battery warning

Yes, I've had this.
Changed the battery in the key fob.
As per the manual.
Two minutes.
If I remember right, it's a standard 2032 battery.
The most common flat cell.
As available in Tesco and everywhere.

Re: 2.0 Diesel dreadful throttle response

Well, that's almost what I've got. A 2016 2.0 diesel 180 anyway. I've no complaints about the response. I use the paddles, not the kick-down There's a road near me with very short overtaking options - other people say they don't exist! When I want to get past, a drop down on the paddle gives me all ...

Re: Vibration at tick-over

Yes.
We used to reckon on 36,000 miles.
Provided the dampers still match, we probably adjust to their deterioration gradually
I know when I used to drive Company cars (for Ford), I didn't notice anything wrong.
When they had new dampers fitted (always matched) the difference was remarkable.
