Re: Auto stop start

Jaguar seem to think that we all do 20K a year. The system's there so that they can claim to be eco-friendly.

Re: Auto stop start

I've just learnt, from Honest John, that cars like the XE with stop-start systems have, for some reason, a charging system that trickle charges the battery at a lower rate than non stop-start cars. Why this has to be so isn't covered, but I suppose it could be because the battery is different. If th...

Re: Nocturnal visitors

Foxes and badgers can be a real nuisance at night, and if your unlucky rats can make their presence known as well. My biggest worry was squirrels until I fitted a dished disk on the feeder pole.

Re: Bigger brakes

Don't forget that if you fit bigger brakes then you may have to get bigger wheels as well to fit over them, especially if your current wheels are 17".

Yes normally I wouldnt bother with the extended warranty but the cost of engine and turbo would have been about £13k. I think selling the car and getting something newer with a long warranty is the safest bet.
Or buy one of those cars with a maker's seven year warranty. :)

Re: Favorite Petrol Fuel?

I have been using Shell V Power from the last fill and was going to do the same today. I'm not sure why petrol is now 10p cheaper than diesel but it's good for me. The difference between unleaded and V Power was 20p per litre so decided to put in ordinary unleaded. The mpg I got on the unleaded was...

Re: Blown Turbo

In my view extended car warranties are just like buying insurance cover for TVs and washing machines, you end up paying more in the long run. That's how the lenders make their money. You would be better off putting money, say £50 to £100 or more, every month into a savings account and using it if yo...

In my opinion it was that level of cool under pressure and thought process that gained Lewis his 5th title and left Vettel scratching his head at where his season went so wrong.
For the second year in a row!

Re: Any Formula 1 fans here?

Those two have previous from earlier formulas. I think they both thought, 'I'll just squeeze him a bit to show him who's boss,' but they both squeezed at the same time and neither gave way, which is a bit stupid when a bump can be a disaster. That's a good suggestion about the blind spot warning, wh...

Re: Any Formula 1 fans here?

The Brazilian race yesterday certainly had plenty of action, on and off the racetrack. It's just not acceptable for a back marker to impede the race leader as he's being lapped let alone crash into him sending him spinning off the track and costing him the race. All the rubbish about having the righ...
