Re: Another delay

StewartM Different manufacturer, similar story.. Salesman then proceeded to tell me a pack of lies about the service package - no mileage limitation etc - I was waey because I had exactly the same story on a previous purchase from this dealer, but accepted his word. Big mistake.. Had a major wrangle...

Re: XE end of life in 2023, autocar article.

That reminds me that when I worked in a power station ( some years ago I might say - long enough to cite the Statute of Limitations) , it was the practice to "borrow" oil for our cars from the immense stock carried in 45 gallon drums. usually undertaken on night shift. The only problem...

Re: XE end of life in 2023, autocar article.

Considering that biomass is supposed to be a "green" fuel - although I don't quite following the reasoning as I am told that standing trees absorb CO2, whereas burning them releases CO2 (and no doubt I am completely misunderstanding the chemistry involved having listened eagerly to too many politici...

Re: Vechicle reservation fee refund?

A year ago I swapped my car - another well know make - on a PCP with a trivial interest rate and about £4000 off the list price. I paid £2000 deposit by credit card. This was returned on delivery of the car by a refund to my credit card . It took me a couple of months to spend it and actually recove...

Re: Tracker

I had a tracker fitted in my X type - it was amazingly sensitive to movement - I kept getting calls asking me if I knew where my car was (every time it was parked on the drive). A guy came to tweak it and he reckoned that it was vibration from the M42, a couple of hundred yards away. A good story, a...

Re: Private number plates

Regarding the illegality or otherwise of plates, I well remember a colleague of mine celebrating his daughter getting rid of her husband who turned out to be something of a conman. One incident involved a fancy "personalised" plate. When asked where he got the plate from (meaning how did you manage ...

Re: Private number plates

I've had Y123HUP for a few years now - it's a joke ! - inspired by a 1940's Guinness advert of a guy lifting a steamroller which had the reg 123HUP.

One advantage of a personal No Plate, I am assured, is that it makes cloning less likely. And, it doesn't date the car
