Re: FIX: XE sewing machine rattle in passenger cabin (TSB)
The noise has gone! Thank you so much, Mistral Blue, for the initial posting of the Jaguar bulletin. I bought my XE 18 months ago, and at the time I pointed out the irritating machine noise which was only present in the cold weather and when the throttle was depressed. I got the "They all sound like...

Re: FIX: XE sewing machine rattle in passenger cabin (TSB)
I have had this irritating sewing-machine sound in my XE since I bought it last year. The car has now done 20000 miles and the noise is still there. Earlier in the year, I complained, and was told that it was the timing chain. The car was taken in and new timing chain/s installed, which was a very b...

Re: "Clunk" noise from roof over drivers shoulder
I too get the clunking noise from the roof. Worse in hot weather, and usually when driving over uneven road surface. I suspect that the body is flexing, and there is something loose. I don't think I will mention it to the agents, because they will probably not believe me!

Re: Stop/Start again a few thoughts
My stop start failed to work for about 6 months, having been told by the dealer that it had passed its "health check". I then read somewhere that if you double-lock the car (I wasn't doing that regularly) then all the systems shut down, and the battery does not discharge as much. I tried that, and t...

Re: Knocking noise from engine until warmed up (w/ audio)
I can't hear anything unusual on the audio, but what you describe is exactly the same as I am experiencing. It is not a cold diesel sound, and I don't think it is coming from the engine, because you only hear it when the car is under load, and if you rev the engine in neutral you cannot hear it. Als...

Re: V6 tapperty sound on start up ?
I recently purchased an XE second hand from a main dealership. It has now done about 8,000 miles. When the engine is cold, there is a sound that could be described as "tappety", but I would say it sounds more like a sewing-machine. It is only present when one presses the accelerator, and is definite...
