Re: Rear brake discs - how long roughly

I'm quite interested in the underbody protection which they're offering. If they're doing it properly they'd have to remove all of the felt panels to apply, which would be quite time consuming, so the labour charge seems too low for that kind of thing. Does anyone know what they actually do and what...

Re: Jaguar service plans

For the £599 deal it's maximum of 2 services included. So how much is a regular service with Jaguar to include, oil, filters, brake pads and discs? Would pads and discs be included in either the 2nd year or 4th year service or both? I'm surprised the official schedule for an oil change by the manufa...

Re: XE 2018 Ingenium - BEEP-BEEP on UNLOCK

I'd doubt it's a config setting if it's only doing it every now and then. Is your car actually locking by the way? Does it still do this if you allow the wingmirrors to finish unfolding before opening the door?

Re: [gearbox] "Chewbacca" like sound on switching to "R" when cold

JLR/ZF don't actually publish information about how to fill/refill the gearbox cooling system. But, according to ZF it's a thermostatically operated valve, rather than an eletronic actuator it relies on wax and a spring, when the trans fluid reaches 71 degrees the wax melts sufficiently to allow the...

Re: XE 2016-18 2l Diesel & 2.0L petrol 2018 Recall

The certainly don't measure NOx or CO² during the MOT test. There is no way they can reissue a V5 with corrected CO² figures, simply wouldn't happen. I've spoken to DVSA about this before and that's exactly what they can do. On that occassion I believed I was paying too high VED and they said if I ...

Are you sure it's not just the parking brake actuator you're hearing?

It doesn't always deactivate in drive until you begin to pull away, so you may not notice it in drive, only reverse?

Re: XE 2016-18 2l Diesel & 2.0L petrol 2018 Recall

The alternative might be to go to a VOSA centre and have them reissue the V5 with a higher emission so it can pass the MOT? Accompanying that with a higher road tax rate.

Unacceptable either way. I think I'd be taking it further if it impacted me.

Re: Transmission oil specification

I've spent some time doing this myself recently and found the only way i could get the fluid in was via the small black breather pipe on the top of the engine. Cyling reverse, first and second. Then revving to two thousand rpm in neutral for 30 seconds, turning off the engine then a load of air come...

Re: Transmission oil specification

By the way, you wont get all 8.5litres in, in one go. You need to brim it to the fill port, run the car, cycle through all of the gears, let the transmission reach temperature (40 degrees celcius from memory) so that the internal valve opens which circulates the trans oil around the cooling system, ...
