Re: JLR - where next?

You'd hope the local papers with JLR plants would try and show things in a good light, but... The Distress and Slur - sorry, Express and Star, which is the main Wolverhampton paper, covering the i54 plant has almost exactly the same article they had last quarter, and barely mentions the much improve...

Re: JLR - where next?

Isn't most of the huge loss the one that was announced a few months ago? I thought that was a fairly standard business tactic - post a big loss, and then look better as a return to a small profit, without a lot of the costs that were written off. I'm more interested that Tata are still denying the s...

Re: Face lift model

It is a nice trick, but it doesn't work for anyone with antique eyesight  It wouldn't stop me buying a Jag with it installed, but there is no way I'd pay for it! The good news is that you can switch it back to a normal mirror by using the tab on the bottom of the mirror. Just like the "old" m...

Re: Panoramic sunroof...rubbish?

I test-drove one with a sunroof, and I was underwhelmed, so I'll use the money for miles more petrol, instead :D

Re: Face lift model

The rear mirror is amazingly good and fair play to JLR talking the lead with it. The XE has reasonably good rear vision but it's one of those things that once you have used it you will probably never turn it off. The "mirror" wouldn't work for me.... A real mirror has the reflection as far b...

ATS cameras?

Not an abbreviation I recognise - Automated Traffic Signal camera, perhaps...

Thinking about it, I had noticed the bong for red light cameras, but hadn't particularly thought about it, as I do stop when required at traffic lights :)

Re: ICTP Maps Update Download

Wot PhilB said... I updated mine the weekend before last, having waited until I was heading out on a run, because I'm too mean to leave it ticking over for a quarter of an hour wasting petrol  It updated no problem, but I was pleasantly surprised that I still got the speed camera warnings while...

Re: Stop/Start again a few thoughts

Alan, I had the dealer do it for me to avoid any problems. I don't have an Obeone kanobe test item. Several on here say it's just a straight forward swap with reprogramming of radio and windows and the re entering of phone numbers but I also heard it needs telling waht battery is fitted. Halfords w...

I wouldn't have an issue with JLR being sold. After all both companies have been owned by different organisations over time.
I'd tend to agree with that.

Arguably better owned by a car company than a steel firm, but who knows?

Re: Does JLR deserve its reliability reputation?

If you believe the interweb, there is no such thing as a reilable car :o On another car forum recently, someone was complaining about how unreliable modern cars are... My response was approximately as follows: 1973 Morris Marina 1.8 Estate. 60 MPG on a run. That's 60 MPG of 20/50, not petrol!
