Re: Royal Ascot

Dangerous place, Ascot...

Back in about 1930, a relative (uncle, or possibly great uncle) of one of my drinking buddies was a bookie at Ascot, and his brolly was struck by lightning, killing him!

Re: Sat Nav Updates

It's a lot cheaper than my Insignia would have been to update :o Two years after I bought it, Vauxhall released a new Nav DVD. For about 180 beer tokens  For some reason, I spent a lot of time after 2011 on roads opened between 2009 and 2011 with a "pleaase drive onto a digitized road" message...

Re: New puncture proof tyres

Just came across this on yootoob. Apparently production versions will have a side wall and won't be see through. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMve0myKUTw Should have known better than to read some of the comments... Edit - Just to be clear, it is the YooToober comments I was laughing at, n...

Re: Opinion on Momentary Control Loss

That's not new - one of my mates at University only got 3 miles from the dealers in a shiny Dolomite Sprint before he put it sideways into a bridge, and that was back in the days when Sunny Jim Callaghan was running the country

Re: Picture of the month on XE forums?

I wouldn't necessarily disagree, Vespa, although I've got lots of Canon kit :) The problem is, where do you draw the line on unfiddled with photos? I can set my main DSLR to do a lot of what would previously been photoshoppery - image sharpening and the like, despite the fact that it is over 10 now ...

Re: Opinion on Momentary Control Loss

People having fun in Jags? Is that allowed?  I tested mine this morning, out of a wet, greasy roundabout onto a quiet NSL dual carriageway with good visibility and plenty of room - it did step out fractionally, but either I haven't forgotten how to drive RWD over the last 30+ years of d...

Re: Drive mode self-changing.

And just to confuse things, here is the quote from the MY19 handbook :) The comfort driving mode is automatically selected each time the ignition is switched on. The previous driving mode selection is not retained when the ignition is switched off. Someone obviously reprogrammed the computer at some...

Ah British Racing Green !
Shame they stopped doing it on the XE.
Too right...

If they'd still been doing it in January, there'd be a BRG XE on my drive now! :D

That looks really good, Repairman, enjoy it!

Re: Confirmation Big Brother is Watching

Good grief, that VCA web page is awful! If I'd put stuff that clear and easy to navigate on t'intertubes back when I was "gainfully employed", I'd have had a right kicking for it! Once I fought my way through, it looks as though the 300AWD only puts out 68 and a bit dB - I thought It d...

Lots of great roads to enjoy a Jag on :D
