Re: Smart Motorways (Again)

Cow farts :D Not as silly as it sounds actually. Cow farts have methane in them and that is a very much more active greenhouse gas than CO2. What no one wants to acknowledge is that what is needed is either a significant drop in people's "living standards" or a significant drop in numbers of people....

Re: Smart Motorways (Again)

All the emissions BS is getting infuriating. The wood pellets being burnt at Drax come by ship from North America, so cutting down mature forest that absorbs CO2, then sailing it thousands of miles, road transport each end of course. It would be funny if it weren't t so pathetic. New scams are emerg...

You can have a lot more fun with the car if you take it out of London onto some B roads. I recommend a stretch between Chipping Ongar and High Roding, if you're based in North or East London.
Good stretch of road, but they have reduced the speed limit on bits of it recently. Barstewards.

Re: Fuel Ecenomy on Automatics - Advice Please

Neologisms are made up new words and I came across the word when I did psychiatry in the early 70's. People suffering from schizophrenia often make up words. Today it is mainly the "snowflake" people.  That's me in trouble then and not in a snowflaky way  And the missus is worse :s...

Re: Opinion on Momentary Control Loss

Had to laugh at the soundtrack :D most appropriate! I wonder if the Dunlops age harden? I'm on one year old Dunlops and they are still more than good enough in the wet although they will let go if I'm taking the p*ss. They are progressive when they let go too. Possible you've caught a diesel spill. ...

Re: 2017 XE normally this loud?

I've noticed there is some noticeable exhaust noise at around 50-60 that disappears as you go up towards 70.

Also worth checking the authenticity of the SD card, there are plenty of counterfeit cards around.

Re: Confirmation Big Brother is Watching

Looking at this, the technical challenge of replicating the standardised test in a real world driving scenario is going to be it's undoing. There are so many variables. More likely, the loudest vehicles will be pulled in for testing. Thing is, if you keep your stock exhaust system, you get the autom...
