I still think it’s about time that dealers handing over keyless cars provide warnings and pouches - it’s such a stupidly easy fix to the problem of these being stolen.
Just as esily give them the obvious choice to turn the keyless function off.

Re: Adblue quality

Is this a brand new or used car? If the former then a major worry but if as I suspect the latter, then did they really fill the adblue tank? I woud think if it has allegedly used 8 litres in 1000 miles something is not quite right and ditto with the glow plugs. I would have thought start up would ha...

Re: First Birthday XE Portfolio needs new rear brake pads AND discs

One year and 12K miles, how utterly ridiculous. Maybe, just maybe new pads but discs, no not in million years. I do genuinely believe some of the XE discs are sub standard. Mine were still original and in good order at 25K but when I now compare them to my XF they clearly picked up surface rust far ...

Re: Adblue, DEF bill for £971 Beware

I have to say that too would leave a bad taste in my mouth and personally I would have liked to have seen the duff NOX sensor purely to see if I could truly establish it was u.s. I'd also say £150/hr is frankly profiteering, I wonder how much the technician gets pad and yes I know there are overhead...

Re: Insurance renewal

Renewed my Z4 insurance just yesterday. Introductory offer meant a £128 cost. Have to say I have ZERO loyalty to any insurer and I will chop and change each and every year. Perhaps one day insurers will wake up and realise they created this nonsense and I suspect it is them that are now suffering as...

Re: Snapped wheel stud help

Been watching this with interest and having been an advocate of minimally lubing wheel studs I thought perhaps I have been wrong to do so. Consequently I firstly sought the views of John Cadagon who some will know as something of a guru on car related matters. He clearly suggests that you can lube a...

Re: Snapped wheel stud help

I too make a point of using just enough lubricant to allow threads to run freely. I cannot recall any other situation where it was/is most beneficial to lube threads and that includes safety critical areas. Maybe I've got it wrong after all these years but if you torque to a value on lubed threads t...

Re: Emissions Recall

I for one have not heard of VED rates being retrospectively revised, if they were then I think there would be an awful lot of discointented VW owners.

Re: TPMS Set at incorrect PSI

It does seem like a system that is begging for trouble. I've had two cars that use the rolling circumference of the tyre and when the pressure drops and therefore the rolling circumference a pressure warning is flagged up. Worked particuarly well on one car but the other had stupidly low profiles an...

Re: Smart Motorways (Again)

I quote from the article, "They have also warned drivers if they break down on a live lane of a motorway or a major road to get out quickly and call 999 as soon as possible." Am I not right in thinking the cameras are supposed to be constantly monitoring for situations like these or do they not work...
