Re: First service

5yrs/60,000 miles is better than we get in the country its built! We only get 3yrs here. But I think the miles limit is higher; something like 100k I think. I have to say that 60k miles is not an awful lot for a car that is competing in the up-market sphere. What are jaguar afraid of ? Is it just c...

Re: Short Journey impact on Adblue Counter?

I think the main problem with low use for a diesel engine is the lack of opportunity for the diesel particulate filter to regenerate, this requiring a reasonably fast run over a few 10s of miles. Without this, there will eventually need to be a forced regen which always carries the risk of diesel f...

Re: Broken valve!!

I have metal ones on my XE, but they have hexagons on the sides so a spanner can be used. If trouble has been experienced, a bit of Coppaslip, or maybe small smear of Vaseline should stop the things seizing. I should say that I take mine off every spring to re-polish them.

Re: Advice on scratch repair

There are one-man operators doing local repairs like this in the UK, usually franchised. They repair the scratch with the car on your driveway. However, weather is critical to success, unless you have a garage they can work in. I have watched a bloke doing one, and it looked pretty good at the end. ...

Re: First service

Hmm. I think you'll find the time interval is 2 years, not 12 months, and the miles limit is around 20k. What is the current mileage of the vehicle ? There have been a large number of cars floating around in the trade recently, due to Covid19, doing no miles, probably sitting on an airfield somewher...

Re: Jaguar Extended Warranty

Here is the Jaguar warranty: - https://jaguar-renewal.motor-admin.com/warranty/product-selection-2 and here is the RAC Premium Plus warranty: - https://www.ala.co.uk/warranty/pdfs/ala-warranty/assurant/WTY-Premium%20Plus%20FSH%20100-sample.pdf They seem to be broadly comparable, except that the Jagu...

Re: New tyres

My 2017 Portfolio 20D AWD has the original Dunlop Sportmax tyres still on and not worn out yet, at just over 30k miles. I have had no problems with them as the second owner, so am tempted to replace like with like. Car was on 10k miles when I bought it.

Re: Jaguar Extended Warranty

The biggest problem with the Jaguar extension is it is only for 12 months. There is no 2 or 3 year option with an overall mileage and claim limitation. I have been invited to renew, and essentially, they want £800 off me for 12 months. OK, I can pay in 10 instalments, but my use pattern means it is ...

Re: Service Plan - worth it?

When I bought my May 2017 XE in January 2019 it had 10k miles on it so still had some original warranty remaining, but I got an extension to this. I therefore decided to take out a 3-year service plan. This also includes AdBlue topups. The service intervals for the XE are every 21k miles or 2 years,...

Re: The story of my cursed XE - Is this normal?

The car has now been diagnosed by an authorized dealer. They said the issue is with the timing chain. Shouldn't those last basically forever? The estimated price for a replacement would be somewhere around 4000 euros + 250 euros for diagnosis. Well, they don't last forever, but should last much lon...
