Re: Oil consumption on 2.0 diesel

They're not bad cars, just misunderstood! If it's any consolation my RX-8 doesn't use as much as my old V6 Omega used to  Oh, it had its good points - great to drive but overall it was ridiculously rusty (scrapped at <10 years old for serious corrosion), not that fantastically well put togethe...

Re: Oil consumption on 2.0 diesel

....unlike a mate of mine with a Mazda RX8. He has to carry a 5l can of oil wherever he goes and tops up the oil everytime he fills up with petrol) To be fair, it does say this in the Mazda handbook. By design they do use quite a bit of oil, there are 2 (or 3, depending on year) injectors whi...

Re: XE 2016-18 2.0L Engine Recall

I think they may be fobbing you off as there's no clutch. Gearbox learning, maybe.

Mine can occasionally do what you're describing though.

Driving mode, however, should default to ECO even after disconnect
This isn't the case on mine, it will stay in eco or normal if selected, but dynamic will switch itself back.
There may well be differences between model years though.

Re: Drive mode self-changing.

The centre display with trip miles, average mpg, range and average speed doesn't change on mine, but the bottom right one next to the gear indicator can be changed with the 'i' button on the end of the stalk. The content of this one can be set with the trip bank.

Re: Drive mode self-changing.

It also changes the dash layout, which is annoying, as it seems to have to cycle through all the options but the one I want, before eventually getting to it second time around. I haven't fathomed that one yet. On mine, the content displayed at the bottom can be chosen in 'trip bank' in the options....

Re: Drive mode self-changing.

From the online Owner's Handbook for the MY16 XE: "Dynamic driving mode will remain selected for approximately 6 hours after the ignition is switched off, after which point it will need to be selected again, if required." It does not say the same about the Eco driving mode, however. It will do this...

Re: Drive mode self-changing.

Mine has swapped itself to normal on 3 or 4 occasions over the last 2 years, still not sure why. One thing to be aware of is when you put it back to Eco it switches off auto front and rear screen demist and puts the air con in low power mode - which not everyone might want. Personally I put these ba...

Re: DAB Radio - No station logos

Mine's not the Pro version. Tried 6 different stations tonight and none display a logo, just the DAB square.

Re: Rear brake discs - how long roughly

I don’t keep it garaged and due to the design of the wheels it’s easy for rain and snow to blow onto the discs. Due to my work pattern, sometimes the car won’t get driven for 3-4 days in a row. The main rot on those discs set in over winter 2017 when there was a fair bit of snow and I only drove it ...
