Re: Sharing the Roads

No one is talking about speeding here! I'm fanatical about sticking to the limits, especially the lower ones. Often, I'll go around the Doris's doing 45 in a 60 zone and watch them disapear in my mirror, only to find them catching me up in a 30mph village. I love threads like this. It really annoys...

Re: Hello from London

Another update. I had the car detailed last week at a highly-regarded local outfit - a small sample of the results below which I was very happy with: Car.jpg The detailer did notice some interesting defects which I hadn't seen before and I'm not sure if it's worth bringing up with the original deale...

Re: Oil dilution and DPF problems - Diesel XE

I had to do a significant amount of research into these engines as part of the work I do, and Phil has pretty much said it all, but the transversely mounted Ingenium diesel engines are (it would seem) an inherently flawed design and I would be surprised if many of these engines don't pack it in far...

Re: Hello from London

Just thought I'd post another update. I've spent more time with the car and the issue with the steering definitely seems to be fixed. Whatever vagueness was there after the repair has gone (or I've adapted to it). I have some new-found respect for the XE's handling too. Near my family home there's a...

Re: Boot Space

These cars do have smallish boots. I perceive it as being smaller than my old 2 series (although it's not) because the boot height, floor to ceiling, is quite low (I assume this is different for those without a space-saver). This makes things awkward and easy to knock the rather cheap-looking releas...

Re: Hello from London

Update on this... The noise/vibration from the steering appears to be fixed now on the second try, and it turned out the underlying problem (whatever it was as they haven't told me) was something covered by the warranty. The dealer is also refunding the fee for the initial investigation, which is go...

Re: XF 3.0 Supercharged to XE S?

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I've driven the 180 diesel and 250 petrol XE back in 2016, so have a good idea of what to expect from the chassis, but had my head turned by the approved used XF V6 Portfolio for less than the price of a new XE. It is a used V6 S that I'm looking for. My XF has th...

Re: Hello from London

So a bit of an update about the noise I mentioned on my last post... I took the car to a service centre on Tuesday to have it looked at. They called me this afternoon to say they'd diagnosed a dry bearing and had lubricated this. They said it wasn't covered under the used approved warranty and said ...

Re: Hi everyone, I'll be the new owner of Jaguar XE S 2015!

I'm not sure the XE S is a "pops, bangs and crackles" kind of car and I haven't personally seen any modded ones around. The exhaust does sound good (and quite loud) but it's difficult to provoke additional noise from it. And let's be honest, driving in one of London's many 20mph zones hammering and ...
