Further to my previous post I think it may have something to do with the cabin ventilation as most exit vents are in the boot with exits on the parcel shelf.

All the saloon cars I have ever owned including Mercedes and BMW have never had any sort of trim on the roof ceiling.

At last I have solved the problem. I removed the shock from the top mounting and there was some slight distortion but nothing major but there was two patches of bare metal with light rusting which are the points the shock touches when tightened. Good result. I also like the stop start as I spend a lot of time stationary in traffic where I live so it saves petrol and is very unobtrusive in my view. If I don’t want it to cut in say at a junction I just put a little pressure on the steering wheel which suppresses it.

Central locking

Does anyone else’s car lock and unlock when cleaning with a hose?
I have the key in my pocket and every time the water hits a handle it will either lock or unlock.
