Re: Bonnet will not release

I like that ! Bonnet locks are not supposed to be lubricated . Is that because they can charge you hundreds of pounds to replace them when they seize up ? From what I can see is that both parts of the lock pivot on what looks like steel pivots. So on my Jag , if it moves I will oil it . It is out of...

Re: Oyster leather

My car has oyster leather interior. I agree that it does brighten up the interior . I haven't had much of a chance to drive it but I have found that the seats don't get too hot when the car is left in the sunshine . Dark colours tend to absorb the heat and can be a right pain to sit on until things ...

Re: Bonnet will not release

Has the bonnet been opened ? It sounds very expensive for some locks and cables. I'm a bit surprised that locks and hinges are lubricated when the car is in for a service . If they are my garage didn't do it . IIRC BMW'S used to have a similar problem with one side not opening . We sometimes had to ...

Re: Few advices for the new Jag owner

Just a word of warning!
If you connect a slave battery when you remove the old battery is that those wires will still be live!

If a slave battery is used will the windows have to be re calibrated and if so how do you do it ?

Re: Apparent Engine failure

It is a bit of a puzzle ! The fact that the engine stopped would suggest that something happened to prevent the normal diesel combustion cycle . There isn't much to stop a diesel as it basically just relies of fuel and air . I'm not sure if you could get any movement of the crankshaft by just pullin...

Re: Creaky Bonnet

I'm sorry to hear of the trouble you have had with your car and garage . I have just been out to look at my car to see what the points raised by the garage and other people are . My adjuster bolts don'ts seem to have any rubber pads on them , it doesn't look like they make any contact with the bodyw...

I quite like seeing them on the road . There aren't many around here . There were quite a few in Bournemouth .

Re: Air conditioning not working !

I may have a leak ! I'm sure that the gauge read 40psi when the air con was filled over a week ago . It was checked yesterday and it read below 30psi. I will get it checked again today but if it has lost that amount in a week something must be leaking . I had noticed that the driver's side vents wer...
