Re: Long live the oil burner

Does anyone remember the solar panel car? That didn’t last long.

Re: Write offs being sold repaired

The most worrying thing is most dealers use HPI to check a car and the fact that 80,000 write offs didn’t find their way onto the relevant database. As you can check your driving licence, road tax and insurance status, why on earth can’t you check a chassis number directly with the DVLA to check if ...

Re: Does JLR deserve its reliability reputation?

When you consider the millions of components that go in to making a car, even with a failure rate of 0.1% that’s a lot of cars. The biggest thing (in my experience) that influences how owners feel about their pride and joy is when things do go wrong how it is dealt with by the dealer on behalf of th...

Re: JLR up for sale!

Here we go again - yet more press speculation. Is it not about time they celebrated achievements such as Car of the Year rather than trying to put people off buying Jaguars or Land/Range Rovers just by the mere whiff of PSA becoming involved. Look at how well their ownership has worked for Vauxhall/...

Re: Your thoughts on possible XE purchase

I find it quite amazing that a previous owner ignored the Service warning for 19000 miles - it would drive me crazy! Maybe it was done independently and that is why there is no record on the JLR system, but you would hope that would be recorded somewhere. Would it be possible to get it independently...

Re: Long live the oil burner

This comes from some time ago and, if it goes ahead, can be retrofitted, which seems like a much better solution. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/diesel-saving-technology-could-make-it-market-two-years Hopefully the university will make some serious money from this. I’d certainly be up f...

Re: Old owner registered for InControl

I think some dealers are being very shortsighted. OK you didn’t buy the car from them, but it will need servicing, etc and one day you might be tempted to buy another. Surely it makes good sense to establish a relationship with a potential customer. It takes a very short time and tiny effort for the...

Re: Jaguar Intouch services

Did you buy it from the dealer? If so, that’s very naughty. When I traded my previous XE for my current one, my dealer was very fastidious and checked I had relinquished all of the In Control services, including clearing out any sat nav or phone memory. If they have supplied the car they too should ...
