Re: What are you up to today with the car or whatever?

I'm having a weird time being self employed and unable to work. For the first time in 20 years I find myself with time on my hands but unable to do much to occupy it. I've a list of DIY to do (DIY = Don't Involve Yourself in case anyone is suffering from acronym overload) but as shopping for DIY stu...

Re: No longer able to do certain jobs on cars.

I seem to remember the Sparkrite gadget fitted between the coil and the distributor cap? It was an air gap which would allow voltage to build up to a big value before allowing the current to flow. Biggest improvement I ever saw fitting aftermarket ignition gear was Lumenition. It replaced the points...

Re: No longer able to do certain jobs on cars.

Blimey, this thread takes me back! I suppose I'm lucky because I grew up with carbs, points, dizzy caps etc then moved on to electronic systems. Re: Washable filters

The only washable filter I was happy with was a Toyota OEM polythene fibre item that just needed washing and drying at service intervals.

I've done back to back Dyno runs with high flow filters and found no measurable difference.

Re: MOT due soon?

As far as I know, the MOT service is classed as an essential service. You should be able to book your MOT with any centre that is remaining open for trade.

Re: Washable filters

If you are just replacing a panel filter, I don't think it is worth the reduced filtration unless you have proven the filter to be restrictive. Also, unless you are racing, doing anything that yields less than a 20% increase is not very noticeable. Aftermarket inlet systems often mess with the way t...

Re: Is your car spending more time being unused???

On the plus side, the roads are significantly less busy now, so makes going out for a cruise to nowhere much more enjoyable.

Re: Interesting Environment Articles Circulating the Interweb..

The interesting bit about this is the fact it is not compatible with older vehicles. I seem to remember having been here before when they stopped leaded petrol (for those of us old enough to remember this). Also of interest is that 15% of diesel sales is red diesel. That seems extraordinarily high....
