I've finally had enough of the utter disaster that is the remote app. I have it on two devices, once on my personal android (OnePlus 2) and once on my work iPhone. The android version just stopped opening altogether after an update last year, Jag tell me that my device is "unsupported" which is odd as it worked just fine before the update. My iPhone version opens but NEVER starts the car. I get either network delays or it just doesn't happen.

JAGUAR - are there any plans to update these apps to do what you advertised?

Hi Lee, just for info Remote App works ok on my Samsung Galaxy S5 with latest Android version.

I've been using it from my iPhone for over 6 weeks and never had a problem apart from the odd network delay message which the app always recovers from. Seems to work as advertised to me.

Remote app is fine on my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini as well.

Works OK on my HTC M8 running Android 5.0.1
I do get the odd waiting to update, or having to open/close it twice to force an update ... but generally very happy with it.

I'd like it have more functionality with a battery check option for voltages, etc ... perhaps able to switch heated seats on too when starting the climate conditioner etc.

Mine was working perfectly apart from the odd network delay on my Iphone 5C but yesterday and today it has stopped working properly. It will take a while connect then after a while it shows on my phone as connected and that the car is heating up. When I get to my car its not started at all very frustratin especially at a time when the app would be most useful in the cold weather. come on JLR sort it out.

This is what's happening with my iPhone 6 - looks like it's working, but when I get out to the car it's not running.

This hit & miss with Android is plain ridiculous. It worked fine, then an update and it stopped. A number of reviews in the Play Store state the same thing. I got a response when emailing support from the Play Store and got the standard uninstall/reinstall message which I've done numerous times, including clearing the cache, power-cycling etc all to no avail.

I know this is a real first world problem, but I want to be able to start my car defrosting before I leave the house or before I return to it. Is it too much to ask?

Sort of works on my Nexus 5 Android 6.0.1

'Connecting to car' whirrs around for a minute or two (was 5 or 6 seconds at one time)
'Engine starting' can stay there indefinitely, even when Engine has actually started
'Engine running' when it appears (about 8/10 success rate) is most often accompanied by a flurry of error messages telling me to try again. Which of course I don't need to do.
Doing something unusual, like letting the 30 minutes run down without starting the car, seems to de-synchronise the process completely and puts the phone way out of step with what the car is actually doing. I usually have to restart the phone.

It does kind of work, but is a very flaky bit of software which is - at a a guess- underpinned by insufficient network provision at the Jaguar end.

Anyone using the diesel needs to be awarew that if the DPF filter level is over a certain amount remote start won't work. Note that this is less than the DPF filter level to get either dash warning light on! So if you are doing short commute style journeys then this can be an issue as it was for me - a good run on the M4 cleared it out and now near 100% success except if very poor mobile signal across all networks (as the SIM is network agnostic). Note that the app doesn't report that remote start has failed because of the DPF filter thing - I only know after my extensive talks / visit to and from Jaguar's tech guys!

Get the battery fully charged on the car and it will work. These cars have too much electrics working at one time and I don't think that the battery can cope. Also remember that the remote start will not work with a low fuel level. In the now colder weather I doubt that the battery can cope with many of the functions that are started on remote start. Fans, heater, seats, demist/defrost windows, remote signal and of course the starter motor. When started in the car there is no problem. When remote started, unless the battery is absolutely 100% charged I think that it can't cope and the minute voltage drop affects some of the systems. That's my theory, from observations of my own and I am sure that this is the case. :geek:  ;) ;)

My climate control stopped working last week,it would connect with the car but would not start the engine.I soon realised car had done a weeks worth of short (very)stop start journews so I took her out to play in the puddles in and around North Yorkshire. Obviously a decent round trip got the car upto temperature and guess what, next morning remote climate back up and running. :D

That's sadly true.
I don't know how much incontrol/protect is but I doubt I'll be buying it after the three years sub us up...have no plans to buy a newer phone and I'm sure by then my z3 compact will be obsolete in jlr's eyes by then.

The app auto logs you out every two weeks as a "safety precaution" or you mean it logs you out more than that? Also after an update you have to relog in, so if you have auto app updates it might be updating more times than you realise. Check the version number between sign ins perhaps?

When the starter engages none of the other electrics are running as it isolates them to use max power on the starter.
From my point of view it works but is a little slow at times, it's better than the one on the Audi and BMW
