Now that we should have the final public data, I spent a little time poking around, out of curiosity.
www.howmanyleft.co.uk has data for all UK registered cars based on DVLA registrations.
Jaguar sales numbers, when they were published at JLR Corporate Website sometimes added insight, but frequently didn't as reporting could be laggy and also blurred across channels and markets. Production officially ended 22nd May 2024, exactly a year ago.
For XE, JAGUAR XE SERIES (model family) - How Many Left?
JAGUAR XE SERIES (model family) - How Many Left?
Individual models are generally easy to search on, but naming can be a bit variable as trims changed and humans had to type things
Chinese XEL production (non-UK) numbers are not available in any citable source I can see.
The last reported serial numbers are around 72,300 (Yardbird's is 72,223). Anyone have a later one?
That would suggest ~27k UK-produced cars for international markets excluding China. Any data that points to non-UK market sales volumes/registrations?
XE's strongest market was the UK, which is a small market, and it wasn't the volume success hoped for, especially after the facelift, which came just as the pandemic closed all markets. A super series of cars, many of us love them and are on our second, and in some cases third model. (I note similar trends with Alfa Romeo and their home market dependencies.)
But ultimately Jaguar decided to stop trying to compete in this market segment and, to the eyes of most of us here, go out of business. Or at least its traditional one.
Excellent cars, look after your XE.
