Make sure you tell HA Fox about how they were wrong. And cc JLR. Dealers like this need to be rooted out somehow.

Finally got my car fixed by the great guys at Rybrook Jaguar Warrington, they diagnosed a missing exhaust damper and new back box, so they ordered these and were fitted today only to find it needed a full exhaust so this was fitted with 3 new dampers, the car was still not quiet so they checked the engine mounts and they found they were not holding vacuum so these were also replaced lucky me they had them in stock.

Car is now so so quiet, so thanks to JLR QSD team and to Vespa for telling me to go to Rybrook in Warrington.

HA Fox Chester 12 visits no problem found bunch of Cock Wombles.

Me I am :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Sounds like they had no need to replace the whole exhaust and the rubber mounts? There is a bulletin regarding the engine mounts - If only the dealers read them!!

Believe me if they said that was required it would be 100% right. I bought my car from them and have dealt with the company as it morphed from BMC to JLR over 50 years and quite a few of the chaps there were there when I had my Rover before going over to Jaguar. They did work on my Rover up until the time I sold it in 2009. Every time a job was done it was done properly.
Babysquip........ I am so glad that you got it all sorted :D

To start off with,

I'm not starting an argument, just stating from my viewpoint.

Whereas i can understand the problem and 'support' not given in this case, and i'm glad you finally got it sorted, i have dealt with HA Fox of Chester for over a year with my XE, in the early days i had a few problems, these problems/glitches were dealt with with no problems, when i asked for information it was supplied and occasionally explained.

This is just my perspective from my dealings.

Thanks Vespa JLR have now launched an internal investigation to HA fox handling of the issues as they clearly stated the engine mounts were not an issue and had been ruled out a long with the various customer service issues. But thank you once again for your support Vespa :D

Glad they have been Good with You Bob they just haven't with me two sides to every story but JLR have up held my complaint and comments and are now offering compensation.

Good luck with them in the future I will be using Rybrook Warrington :D

I'm glad the car is fixed but changing the exhaust was clearly not required. It didn't cure the problem as stated in the post. If they investigated and fixed the engine mounts first that would have solved it without the huge cost to Jaguar UK of a complete exhaust system. I wonder if Jaguar will refute a chargeback for incorrect diagnosis of warranty work?

My dealer wasted money admittedly not quite as much. Car went in for the boot lid to bumper clash and they put on the new seal in January 2017 after a respray... Car went in for service in October 2017 and they changed the boot lid seal again as it was part of a campaign... I didn't have the heart to tell the numpties.

My car had two new starter motors unecessarily when all that was wrong was a loose cable connector resulting from a previous warranty job. Wouldn't be so bad but I kept trying to tell them that was most likely the cause of the problem.

I stick by my Rybrook dealings and the fact that the original box on Babysquip car was shattered to bits. If I had seen that as a mechanic I would have replaced it first as mountings were missing. They then retested the car and found that the engine mounts also needed repairing before returning the car and replaced those thus fixing the problem. It seems HA Fox missed the exhaust mounts in the first place and did not check the engine mounts correctly if indeed they were checked.

Just noticed vibration and noise whilst sitting at traffics lights. Once home, I got out and checked the car over. Engine noisy and burbling sound emanating from exhaust. As soon as light pressure applied to accelerator the noise and vibration stopped. It sounded as if tick over had shifted and was close to stalling. I'll see what happens tomorrow.
Thanks for the info, very interesting.

Unlike Automatics of a while back , with the ZF 8 speed the Torque converter disconnects from the gear train under certain idle conditions. In the 'good old days' (?) one had to put gearbox into N during protracted idle conditions such as in traffic jams to avoid cooking the gearbox itself. With this unit, you don't

I have had and still have the same issue and have posted previous on this over several months and I have had a new exhaust system, New engine mounts that made it 85% better now I have the same issue but now its intermittent, Please see my video this may help

Vespa is Spot on with Rybrook they are good and they did need to replace the original box, but sad to say I still have the issue but its 90% better just intermittent now which is more frustrating.

Ok.
If you think so I'll merge them.
