With the XE coming out of warranty and people starting to use independents it could be good to get feedback and recommendations.
Please post details of any independents you can recommend.
Details of prices and a link to their websites would be good.
Also if they can update the Jaguar online service history which is still important for some although others are happy with paperwork.

What's the mileage/age for that service checklist? And where does it originate from?
It's the OSH schedule for my 42000mile/4 year service

They also seem to have omitted all the detailed checks and referred them to the WSM instead.... which doesn't help the owner identify what should be done

I am definitely confused!!! The service sheet is more or less the same as Atech of Edgware did to my car (minus the DEF check) as mine is petrol. On the invoice it has "Jaguar recommend brake fluid change every 2 years - carry out complete brake fluid change". I have the Jaguar Ingenium engine. Don't see how a different engine can affect the brakes though, or is that just me?
To my way of thinking services should be timed by the yearly interval i.e. minor service and then when the car reaches the correct mileage a more in depth service like my car had. For goodness sake my car has only done 13200 miles in total. At this rate it means that a major service will be carried out every time even though the car has only done a minimum mileage.

Most ( if not all ) car makers will say that the brake fluid should be replaced every 2-3 years. It's just a question of whether that's included in the service or not.

The Jaguar service schedule has major and minor services allocated, and the cost varies greatly. Angie, I'm happy to look over your OSH if you're happy to PM the VIN to me.

As I've said before, brake fluid change is just another income generator. Yes, brake fluid is hygroscopic but unless you're racing round the Nurbergring, and heating your brakes and fluid to boiling point, it doesn't really matter as long as your brakes are working to MOT standard in normal use

This topic seems to have strayed considerably from a list of recommended independent service providers to discussions about what a particular service should be.
Please try and keep on topic.
What is or isn't included in a particular service should perhaps be in a separate thread.
Thanks.

EDIT:
It seems my message in this post isn't getting through.
Any further posts that aren't comments/recommendations about an Independent Specialist will be removed.
Let's get this one back on track to help people looking for an Indy.
Thanks.

You are right Rojo! I meant to write that I will NOT be going back next year. Don't know if this is a ploy that this company do. Quote a price and then increase it considerably when the car is in their workshop but not a good practice. So I do NOT recommend this garage.

I highly recommend Surrey Jag Centre in Redhill for anyone looking for an alternative to the main dealer network in the area. Had great service from them at sensible prices and their knowledge about Jags is exceptional.
They have access to Jaguar systems and can upload service history to Jaguar's online system.
Oil service, MOT and brake fluid change was £296.

Topic cleaned.
Just a reminder that this topic is for recommendations about independent Jaguar specialists - nothing more.
If you are having problems with your XE then post in the relevant section depending on the nature of your issues.
Thanks.

did search this thread, but don't think E&E Services were mentioned. based in Milton Keynes, top guys and low prices

Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Paisley

Highly recommend Prestige Jaguar for independent repairs and service.

https://www.prestigejaguar.com/

My XE came up with the dreaded No restart warning, ad blue injector was found to be clear, fault traced to NOx sensor. Douglas and his team at Prestige Jaguar replaced same from stock. Also took time to talk about exhaust vibration damper issue which I had replaced myself, seems engine mounting need replaced.

Farriers of Ratby, Leicestershire (used to be in Glenfield)

Great service, 2/3 of the price that the main dealer wanted, nice, friendly staff

For a B service, Farriers charged £425 (+£30 for loan car If needed), and they washed the car too

Sturgess of Leicester wanted £638

Car is a 2016 180D R-Sport manual gearbox, with 144,000 miles at time of service
