Alan, I had the dealer do it for me to avoid any problems. I don't have an Obeone kanobe test item. Several on here say it's just a straight forward swap with reprogramming of radio and windows and the re entering of phone numbers but I also heard it needs telling waht battery is fitted. Halfords will fit and supply a Halfords battery (Yuasa) and guarantee everything works. I think its about £40 without looking. My dealer chrged me £50. Iwaited and they had it in the worshop 90 mins, so Idon't know what they were doing to it.
Finding a mechanic, sorry 'Technician'? :o
Last time I had a battery swap on the Insipid, I let Halfords do it to save all the messing about...

How many Halfords "mechanics" does it take to find a 13mm socket?

Hint - the answer is more than the number of arms I have!

Fixing the stop/start modules probably..........................
You joke but disconnecting the battery will have given all the modules a hard reset which could have made a difference. They also could have just uploaded the latest software.... ;)

Well, if a software update for my digital dash made mine work for the first time in 18 months then anything is possible.

I used to have to do that periodically with my Samsung phone! :? Take out and re-fit the Sim card and the battery, and it would behave again for a while.

Back from local dealer and some interesting points! No fault codes found when plugged in but that’s no shock. They found the ‘cold cranking amps’ were low and needed to reset the battery monitoring system. All running okay now but will see how long it lasts!

Did enquire if a larger amp battery would make a difference and was told yes but the system would need to be told it is bigger. Leans completely that Vespas battery replacement idea seems to be the winner.

Also had the software updated from 3.2 to 3.4 non pro. Audio sounds a lot better I think but haven’t noticed any other improvements but do hope that this fixed my issue. If not it’s new battery time and 95amp at that.

I've had my XE for 9 months and done 7,000 miles and the Start/Stop hasn't activated once. Which is nice.

Then we may have the answer, cranking amps are too low on the 80Ah battery.

My 80Ah has been faultless for almost 4 years. Start stop always works.

Thinks! To change the battery you must first disconnect the old one, yes? Has anyone tried (or had tried by dealer) just disconnecting for say 10 mins and reconnecting? Cold re-start to all systems could perhaps trigger a reaction.

How many with issues have booked the car in at the dealer for the most recent software update?
(copied from page 63)
"JTB00664NAS2 dated February 5, 2019
SITUATION:
The Auto stop/start system may not function as expected.
CAUSE:
This may be caused by a Gateway Module (GWM) software error.
ACTION:
Should a customer express this concern, follow the appropriate Diagnostic Procedure"

If so has it worked?
I also see a recent post that the Ctek either doesn't do much good and should only be used once a year on recon and/or it could actually harm the type of battery we have ?
How many have failed to realise the reason it doesn't work at a particular time could be one of the many reasons in the manual why it doesn't work?
How many don't double lock the car and/or keep the keys more than 5 metres away to prevent the car not shutting down properly and draining the battery?
