Which was supposed to be the case with mine, however balance shafts replaced and howl/whine has returned
My noise is apparent at about 1200rpm if you take the revs up to about 1500, and on releasing throttle comes back at the 1200 rpm on way back down to idle.
R Did you have to pay for the shafts job?. I had a whine early in ownership and they listened to the turbo with a stethescope and said it was that and replaced it. Initially the whine was still there but much less. Now it's almost gone completely.
G No done under warranty. I believe they are supposed to have checked turbo out

I have the same whine on my 180d awd. 2016
Its low rpm upon releasing throttle 1500 to 1200rpm. Been to dealer and they said it was induction noise and standard. Mentioned oil cooler bracket and they said it wasn't applicable to my engine. I may take it back in again before the warranty runs out as I'm not convinced it's normal.
Normal driving you don't notice it but around town or in a traffic que it does tend to get on your nerves.
its a 180D so maybe affected depending on VIN number

To be best of my knowledge the oil cooler bracket fix is only applicable to Ford-engined pertrol models. Fordie's being a 180d, I'd be more inclined to suspect the turbo or the balance shaft bearings.

Mine is Ingenium Diesel 180D, and fix applied to that, I will see if I can find relevant doc

Ref Turbo whine JTB00457 refers to engine revs between 1700-2000 which is different to what me and Fordie are experiencing

I had the same on my 180D - changing the turbo fixed it.
