Anyone changed their own pollen filter

As above? Looking to change mine. Any advice or tips would be great.

:| Your thread opens a question I have had, but hadn't asked anyone yet.

Do all the tiers of XE have a pollen filter, or is this a "luxury" component that only the higher tiers have (assuming this is a component that protects the air quality for the cabin and not the air for the engine)?

Adam, have you located the pollen filter under the bonnet? I'd like to know where it is and check for mine.

Its under the dash on the left of UK cars so possibly there under US versions.

Think this link is for the newer XF, and therefore possibly same as XE

Hi, I recently aquired my XE 180 R Sport and subscibed to Topix to do various jobs on the car including the pollen filter. Your car WILL have a pollen filter, on some cars it is located under the bonnet and is easy to replace, others are located inside the car near the heater unit and can be a pain to replace, our cars have their's located behind the glovebox. I did not replace mine after all as a missing screw in the glovebox suggested it had already been replaced during a dealer service but the procedure is to remove the tray beneath the glove box, remove the small facia endpanel (beside the airvent), there are three screws at the base of the glovebox and seven inside and on the side. this should reveal the heater motor and the pollen filter slides into the motor housing. I would anticipate the job taking about an hour at your first attempt. Good luck!!

I've literally just done mine in my lunch hour.

10 minutes to disassemble, and remove pollen filter.

Nearly 40 god darn minutes to put back together again.

I highly advise that you purchase a new pack of clips for re-assembly. Most of the time was because the old clips that the T27 screws go into got a bet bent, fell off etc. Mine is back together now with 2 really dodgy fitted screws.

I'm going to see if I can source the part number for the clips and redo mine.

Well worth the effort though. My smell of wee has now completely gone.

Very useful info Alan and thanks. It looks do-able but quite a palaver. I used to change the one in my Mazda 6 in a matter of minutes.
