Automatic Gear Oil Change

Post by bugsrunner » Sat Oct 26, 2019 2:45 pm

Is there any other oil, beside Zf Lifeguard Fluid 8, you can suggest me?

I've seen many that seem suitable for our Jag, but would like to know what you think

Personally I'd rather stay with the ZF product then there can be no doubt. From my understanding ZF do not require the oil to be changed until 150K kilometre so unless you have done the distance you might be changing it unnecessarily?

Changing the oil early will do no harm (except to your wallet). I've always changed auto box oil at around 60,000 miles.

A good italian Jag specialist suggest to change it around 80K km (50k miles).
I'm reaching 100k km and decided to change it because it does harm only my wallet, but cannot decide whether LiquiMoly oil is as good as the ZF

I’ve just done mine and although the genuine ZF Filter and oil is expensive it’s worth it as you can’t go wrong. You even get given a step by step guide when you go genuine too.

Then I will open and check for the guide

Do you know how much oil is needed for a complete change?

I'd urge some doubt about Jaguars view on matters when ZF (the box manuafacturer) says the oil should be changed at circa 150 k kilometers.
