Very hot engine bay

Post by N3wbiexe » Mon Jul 27, 2020 2:03 pm

Hi, I'm new to the forum so be gentle. I'm not an owner but looking to buy very soon. I took a 2.0l R Sport 180hp. I was out for a 20 min test drive on Saturday just gone and loved it. When I returned back to the dealer "not jaguar" I opened the bonnet after the car was off for 10 mins and was hit by an almost overheated smell if you now what I mean and everything in engine bay seemed extremely hot not just the engine everything was red hot to the touch. Does that sound normal I'm not sure how hot the xe runs. The dealer offers a 3 month warranty or 3000 miles and the sales man said if there's any problems it would be sorted.

Hi
Without seeing it it is hard to tell but if you have any doubt whatsoever walk away.
There are dozens of cars available so keep looking and I would suggest starting with Jag dealers as you get a 1 year warranty as standard and they will want to shift their backlog of used cars so negotiate hard for a deal.
Good Luck

It might have just done a DPF regeneration or in the middle of one. But like stated, there's plenty out there.

Parking pack fitted but not used.

Did have two X Types, a 2.5L then a 2.2L Auto with the dreaded DPF. No more DPF's for me.

This would almost certainly be a DPF regeneration. The DPF is inside the engine bay (or very close) and heats up to around 700c+
It would definitely make the engine bay very warm.
