Few words about InControl Apps

Post by snky1987 » Thu Mar 14, 2019 8:23 pm

Hi,

I heard on this forum theory that even on InControl Apps, music still plays though bluetooth.

Today I accidentally disconnected my iPhone from the car and I noticed that through BT music has much worse quality and dynamics.

I did simple test:
Disabled Bluetooth and connected the cable (not AUX btw.). Music started to play, so at least for iPhones music plays through Thunderbolt Cable and definitely sounds so much better than through Bluetooth.

Good question. It is touch, no CD and no pro (with these analog buttons on the sides)

Speaking of Apps, when I plug my phone into USB, it says it can't see any apps.
Are there any apps that let me play music off my phone?
I'm not bothered about the phones remote control, and don't want to pay a subscription.
Are there any interesting free apps?

You need to instal app „Jaguar Apps” on your phone and you will have full list of abailable apps. I know Spotify is available as semi-free (with ads) and your standard phone’s music app as well.

Ah, I see.
Not many apps available, is it? Consistent reviews too ;)
iPlayer Radio* would be useful - lots to download and playback with dash controls.
Otherwise might as well stick to Bluetooth, USB music and JLR's satnav (even with its love of shortest trip via farmers' fields).

*BBC should find a better name for that, and then relentless plug it across all platforms

Yeah, in-car entertainment sux a Jags in my opinion.

no android auto (which would give us google maps and other nice apps)
no apple car (same as above)
navigation apps are very poor and built in in this case is much better.
none of useful apps apart of Spotify (at least for me).

Ages behind the competition in this matter but the car itself is a pure joy :)

I downloaded Jaguar Apps as I was looking for a satnav with speed camera warnings. There are 2 such apps but they were too expensive to pay for the "premium" features such as speed cameras. very few other apps are available. Plus it is a pain having to activate the app every time you start the car, so I didn't bother in the end.

The annoying thing for me is that i Phone users get an extra page in the In Control app. Most of the apps that are available from the Jaguar selection are useless.
