hi guys i have a problem,
I would like to update my browser with the new maps.
I downloaded map downloader but if I choose download on C: or if I put a 32gb usb, if I click on Refresh nothing happens.
What should I do to download these blessed maps?

It's tricky to see where things are going wrong.
I can only describe what works for me on a laptop.
I get the USB3 that I have used for previous downloads.
I delete everything on it and also re-format it to FAT 32 so I know it's definitely empty.
I leave it in the slot and then go to the "here" site.
Like you I have the downloading tool already loaded.
I just clicked on "download" and it seemed to find the memory stick and then the download starts.

Exactly how I do mine and no problems to report.

It depends if the software recognises it as a storage device and if it will download onto it.
If it does will the car accept the download from it ?
Remember the only thing that can be on the USB is the download.
The instructions say to use a 32GB USB3 which works for others so I would only use the USB.

Didn't know that! I stuck the most recent update in the root directory along with a few other files and a couple of directories and it seemed to work without issue. Got lucky possibly? I'll do it properly next time!

Might have done.
I was aiming that remark more at the suggestion of using an external hard drive which could have all sorts of other stuff on it.
To me it's far simpler just to get a dedicated USB3 for a few quid and it is easier for those of us less technically savvy.

The price of USB sticks is ridiculously cheap these days. I got a very low profile 128GB Sandisk USB3 on line for £25. It sits nearly flush with the USB socket so ideal for music storage too. I find normal profile memory sticks easily snagged when using the storage area.
