Double locking deadlocks the doors, making them harder to get in for thieves.
Also I think I read it fully arms the alarm.

From the manual:-

The single locking setting should be used in circumstances when pets remain in the vehicle, or if a window must be left open, etc.

Regards John
How does that save battery juice?
I don't know if it does. I was just explaining the difference between single and double lock.

The internal movement scan is disabled. How much power it uses is debateable. These scanners are in the mirror console.

Mine was in storage for 8 weeks from mid December to mid February with no problem, started first time and stop/start worked after a mile of the first journey
This is yet another anomoly and I put it down to the shutdown of the electronics not shutting down properly and leaving some systems active and running. Your 8 week lack of use possibly left the battery OK as systems shut down correctly. Was the car left unlocked in a garage?
It was in secure storage but I did tell the guy who took it in to double lock it too make sure it went to sleep properly

And very efficient the internal movement scan is too: A couple of weeks ago I parked in a car park and about 10 mins later I got a text from the Tracking Call Centre saying that the car had triggered a theft alert. I immediately returned to the car and all seemed normal. No alarm going , no windows or doors open. I unlocked the car and then noticed what had set the alarm off....The dash cam had fallen off the windscreen and was hanging down on the end of the cable. Quite impressed that it picked that up.

Ah, so single lock and the movement sensors are on. Double lock and they aren't, is that right?

That's what I thought. Ta.

I'm just confused why some are saying double locking saves battery power and what the differences between single and double lock would be to cause that.

So fully charged battery to 12 days later, went to start car and nothing.

Taking it to Jag garage in Perpignan tomorrow.

I assume a 2 year old car with 13,000 Klms on the clock that has always been garaged will not need a new battery, got full 3 year cover over here on parts labour and servicing, do you think battery would be included.

Some cars have had faulty batteries and have had them replaced under warranty. If you have fitted non JLR specific electrics, eg dash cam then possibly not as my dealer automatically rejects and claims inf they are fitted.
