USB Overrides Bluetooth

Post by arinaldi123 » Thu Nov 22, 2018 2:01 am

Hi all - new 2018 35t owner here. Question for the Board:

Is it possible to have my iPhone plugged in via USB to charge, but streaming audio and phone through Bluetooth? Right now, I can connect via Bluetooth, but the moment I plug in via USB, it switches to iPod mode and drops the Bluetooth connection.

I find this annoying. I like using USB simply for charging, and Bluetooth for audio. For the simple reason that the Bluetooth connects automatically, and I don't want to reset what I'm listening to every time I plug in to USB. Just less setup and fumbling.

My 2016 Range Rover Evoque had no problem doing this, although it had two USB ports, one that acted simply as a charger, one that would override Bluetooth. Am I out of luck because the XE only has the one USB port?
