I’m assuming that when the next map update is out, I can can just download and run it without the previous updates from new being installed?
Yep.
They overwrite anything on there so you get the full monty each time.

I updated in Sept 18 and in Oct they had a new version. This year I am waiting until the end Oct. The sad thing is that knowing what is and isn't updated is not easy to find out. Someone on here had a link but it was a bit difficult to understand. ( Or for me it was  )

Hi all,

Just had a call from JLR who have told me that my 2018 MY XE has the latest maps installed. In my earlier email to them and during the conversation I relayed the information gathered from the kind people on this forum, and others, yet still the 'experts' say there are no updates available. This was still the view when I mentioned that roads built and opened in early 2017 were not showing. I was actually told that some satnavs dont update for a number of years!!! Amazing really when you consider other JLR models have the roads on them, as do TomTom. I really don't know what JLR are playing at. Any ideas on what to do next? Thanks

I just took the plunge and updated mine. The price quoted is £97. It has actually adjusted to 109.01, I assume to do with currency fluctuations as mentioned in the terms and conditions. If I pressed map updates it showed nothing due but it i pressed purchase updates it gave options to update. As my old version must have been May 2018 I assume now that this new version is the very latest. I would suggest that you remove the data card from the centre console, load the JLR sat Nav updater into your PC and see if there are updates. You DON'T have to purchase then. Do the check under Purchase updates. I paid with Paypal and was also notified that that price may alter, so hopefully it will be the £97 quoted and not the 109.10. If it is the latter then it will be my last update. Money to burn as I have just had a Premium Bond win. (not a lot though)

Found out earlier this week that mine, supposedly updated in Feb when I bought it, doesn't know the new A556/M6 link road. Got itself in a right knot trying to take me the old way. Good job I, and my old Tom-Tom, knew better.

Thanks Vespa, I tried the purchase route and it tells me no updates are available to purchase. The chap I spoke to from JLR was adamant that no updates are available, strange how you have bought them.

Just looking at updating my old sat nav maps from 2016....... do you still have to pay the update fee if the car is still within its 3 year warranty ? (Not had a car with in built sat nav before !)

Thanks.

Yes and it is calculated to Euros or Dollars not Pounds. £97 is at present £109.01 after the currency change calculation.
