Jag XE 2016 model warning 'SOS not available'

Post by sinbad » Tue Nov 12, 2019 12:35 pm

I have this warning light that's come on saying 'SOS not available' and it seems it is a secondary battery problem and the battery needs replacing
Does anyone know where this 'secondary battery is located ?

It's a dealer jobbie I think.

If the vehicle is travelling in a different country, the Jaguar SOS Emergency Call will still connect, however, the vehicle’s location and the vehicle's details may not be automatically sent.

This feature has 2 backup batteries that will maintain full system operation, in the event that the vehicle's battery is disconnected or disabled.
NOTES

The backup batteries will be maintained as part of the vehicle's servicing schedule, as carried out by a Dealer/Authorised Repairer.

If a fault is detected with the Jaguar SOS Emergency Call system, then the SOS Limited message will be displayed in the Message centre. If this occurs, the vehicle can still be driven, but consult a Dealer/Authorised Repairer at the earliest opportunity.
That is from the hand book

I have searched all I have in my files and cannot find the location. I suspect that they are rechargables like AA or AAA, possibly in the roof console near the SOS button. Only a thought though.

Not up there, I have had mine down a few times trying to find a way to convert from a "Whitefire" console to a SGB console.

Older thread which apparently was caused by a loose wire to the Telematics unit which is under a side panel in the boot.

Have a look at this thread posted by Vespa.
Open the link for the XE S (same systems) as it give diagrams of the various systems and components.
Might help finding the Telematics module.
