A little confused - the 2018 model online "handbook" dicusses the "pedestrian AEB", How does this relate to the foregoing?

It was added in the 2018 model. If you compare with the 2017 online handbook, you'll find no mention of the pedestrian detection.

Do cars fitted with adaptive cruise control have a better forward warning system. I know you can adjust it as it works even when adaptive cruise is off.

Good question mrb. As the Forward Alert system uses the same radar system as ACC, cars without ACC don't have this function. I haven't used my FC, but I'll turn it up to max and see what difference it makes.

So the cars that have Forward Alert system (i.e. the one I mentioned - XE 2016) have also radar system not only the 2 windshield cameras for this purpose ? If so, why ACC is missing from my Jaguar ?

My XE does not have Adaptive Cruise Control, but it has AEB.

Crossing, the car you posted pictures up doesn't have Adaptive Cruise Control and so doesn't have Forward Alert. It does have the camera and AEB, but the manual for that year only shows vehicle AEB and doesn't mention pedestrian AEB. Hope that clarifies things.

How did you figure out that because it seems wrong, for example the car does have Forward alert, this is the picture sent by the owner via whatsup

I'm only going by what the online owner information manual states. That is "Forward Alert" uses the same radar sytem as adaptive cruise control, and is adjusted by the buttons <---> and <-> on the steering wheel.

From the picture you posted of the front of the car it looked like the grille badge was the standard circular type not the rectangular type with the radar. In addition, Topix doesn't show the car as having ACC+Queue Assist.

It may well be that there are two types of FA, one via the optional radar and one by the standard AEB camera but the documentation doesn't make that clear as far as I can see.

Jaguar have now done away with the hideous rectangular sensor in the grill, my current XE has ACC but no rectangular sensor. I was told the radar sensor is now incorporated behind the badge.
