I’m not much cop on computer tech and get rather frustrated that I have to try and do all this stick downloading then transfer to car. It really is antiquated as my old ecosport did it sota with no trouble. I wait for a couple of upgrades before I attempt as it’s usually a full dayer for me to try it 😢

As has been said before, the problem is JLR insisting the whole map has to be downloaded each time.
33Gb SOTA to the car would probably take days.

I have the same problem. It would take 7-10 hours downloading a map update at home so I take my laptop into work and connect there. Luckily my work has superfast t'internet and the whole process takes about 30 mins to download the 33GB. Wholly agree though, it's just plain stupid to have to download 33GB or so just for an update. There must be a simpler way for JLR to do this.

I have the map downloader installed and I can see a range of maps to download. Everything seemed to be in place and I left the download overnight - c10 hours.
The range of maps that appear may not be right for your vehicle and they are at cost.
When you are logged into the site click on "my account" and then when the boxes appear on the left hand side click on "downloads".
The latest map for your vehicle should be there and that is the one to download.
I think that might be the key. I have more or less started again, clearing out the memory stick, and the download looks to be taking around 40 minutes.

Never bothered with map updates.... it amuses me to see my little car icon driving across fields or underwater when I hit a new stretch of road

You posted this same thing (cut and pasted ?) on another thread previously:

You also posted this same thing on here yesterday which I removed and I now see you have posted it again.
It isn't helpful to the topic under discussion.
Please stop.

Thought I’d posted it but couldn’t see it and didn’t realise it’d broken any rules and been removed, so copied and pasted it again. Thought I’d just lighten things up with a bit of banter.... sorry if it upset anyone
