Re-programming ghost ignition sequence

Post by PeterW » Mon Apr 19, 2021 10:03 am

I have recently bought a 2016 XE Prestige (2.0 petrol). Fantastic vehicle but it has an aftermarket security accessory - ghost ignition; i.e. in adddition to brake pedal/start button ignition, you also need to execute a code sequence using the flappy paddles.

Whilst I am very happy that this feature exists on the car, I would like to be able to change the sequence to something I have set myself, rather than have the previous owner and/por any garage mechanics that may have worked on the car prior to my ownership 'in the know' as to the startup code sequence. The internet is pretty vague on this and, before I go and lay out good money at a Jaguar Dealership, I wondered if any of the members here had come across this feature and could steer me in the right direction.

All contributions gratefully accepted! ;)

I suspect this is an aftermaket addition and so not supported by JLR dealers. Try contacting these for support;

Sorry can't help with the code change but just wondering. Does that system stop the car being started remotely by your mobile phone as well?

Unfortunately she's had to go so I'm an ex XE owner.

Did have two X Types, a 2.5L then a 2.2L Auto with the dreaded DPF. No more DPF's for me.

I agree the Ghost immobiliser is an aftermarket theft solution, and not something provided by JLR. I think I’d try and find out which car security firm fitted it. Was there any paperwork with the car, or could you try to contact the previous owner?
