In London rain water most certainly does leave marks once dried. Whether it's Saharan dust or just good old English dust, my black car is impossible to keep clean.

Two buckets are essential.Do not use a sponge the holes capture grit.Wash mits are better for rinsing and I agree a good drying towel or towels are a must not a chamois. A good rapid detailer is also a great addition for topping up inbetween waxing with the wax of your choice.My preferred is R222 its a class wax for the price used it for years.
