My bonnet suffered a stone chip before the car was a month old. I've been holding off having it repaired as I believe that a new car's paint hardens off over time, and I might as well wait to see if it suffers any more chips before it's fully hardened.
Am I right in thinking that the paint will harden off, or is this old technology? How long should I wait?
Apparently detailers would state the 'curing' time is between 30-90 days. You'll need to know when the car was painted at the factory, this could have been several weeks before you took delivery, if a factory order, if bought new from stock , it could be a lot longer or shorter time dependent on how long the dealer had the vehicle in stock.
The bonnet on mine is very susceptible to stone chips.
Have some rather large chips. Bonnet respray in the next few weeks..
I'll ask them
