My Carbon Fibre Splitter

Post by dd_lewis » Thu Aug 23, 2018 11:24 pm

Some of you may remember that I ordered this carbon splitter after another forum member kindly pointed it out to me:

http://minagallery.com/jaguar-xe-s-r-sp ... e-2016-on/

It cost £177 including postage and took 4 weeks to be delivered from California! It got held in customs and I had to pay £24 in additional taxes.

I finally had chance to fit it to the car last weekend and this is the finished product;

Here’s the car when I bought her;

And here’s the car following a few subtle modifications - Grill & Bumper Trims wrapped Matt Black, Carbon Fibre Splitter, Rear 25mm Wheel Spacers;

As you can see, the car JUST manages to clear my drive with the splitter. This pic shows the actual clearance/ride height with the splitter fitted;

The splitter is really good quality and very light weight. They supply 3M adhesive strips and some self-tapping screws to fit the splitter to the bumper. I opted to use both the tape and the screws, but positioned the screws as far back as possible incase I ever wish to remove the splitter.

I am really happy with the result. It’s very subtle but certainly adds a level of sportiness to the front end. The contrast with the Matt Black components really does look the part!

Liking the splitter a lot. :)

Although looking at your drive I bet you have to be real slow in getting on and off as your car looks awfully close to the road surface there.

Really enjoying watching the evolution of your car with (imho), results are well worth the effort/cost.
What have you got planned next?

Looks good. Unfortunately it would never work for me as I already scape the front going in and out of my drive. :cry:

And be even more careful putting it in the garage!! :D :D I bet in won't go in there. Looks about the same size as mine. Ok for storage and useless for anything bigger than a Mini...The original one, of course

Thanks Paul!

Yeah I take it easy on the drive, it’s not as bad as it looks, and it makes for a great photo opportunity 😁😂

Thanks Tony! I’m quite lucky in that there’s not many speed bumps where I live. I’m just having to be more careful when pulling into spaces with kerbs as it only just cleared without the splitter!

Cheers BRC!

I’ve always been really into customising my cars, whilst trying to keep them as subtle/OEM as possible! I purchased some genuine carbon side vents from another member and am thinking about a carbon lip spoiler on the rear. The next few plans will then be performance based, starting with a stage 1 remap and some bigger brakes 👍🏽

They look really impressive, just enough to notice the difference without being in your face.

I'm glad I was of help by pointing you in their direction, I'll have to bite the bullet and order some for myself now 8-)

It’s definitely worth the purchase mate! Really subtle but it makes a nice change from the standard! Thanks for pointing it out to me 👍🏽
