Scuffed wing mirror

Post by JiggyJag » Tue Apr 09, 2019 11:17 pm

Caught wing mirror on a post - winced and said ouch !!!
Scuff does not look too bad, can only see it close up but is down to the 'white'.
Any recommendations on if it will polish out ?

In Australia we have bumper repair guys who come to you and will take scuffs out of bumpers and other plastic parts and touch up the paint perfectly at very low cost (like 50 - 75 of your pounds for something fairly nasty looking on a bumper). I'd google "bumper repairs" and give them a go. Having two daughters driving and my mother having a toyota 86 with no sensors, we were pretty much on a first name basis with the Bumpertech guys.

Has it definitely gone through to the white primer?
The post wasn't white was it and it could be paint transfer?

I've given it a good to with t-cut and it's just vsible. So I think it's down to primer, but only just.
Was wondering if I could polish it out with Maguire's or another compound.

Maguiars ultimate is very good stuff but be careful if you think you are down to primer.
If it's just visible it might be time to call it a draw and maybe use a bit of touch up paint if it's very small.

Brasso. The liquid variety (not the wool type). Use very carefully....

If, as has been suggested, it is down to the primer, you can't really polish it out as there won't be more coloured paint below the primer. Touch up would be the only solution really. Maybe that coloured wax that is advertised (although I don't believe the adverts)
