Black steering wheel button flaking away

Post by xep » Wed Nov 11, 2020 9:53 am

Hi all

I've noticed a white mark on the "volume down" button on the left side of the steering wheel. I've attached a picture.

It's 2016 so well out of warranty. Wondering if anyone has found any quick fixes as I'm sure it'll get worse if not fixed soon?

Thanks!

I guess a quick fix would be to get some matt or satin black touch-up paint and just dab at the white spot, making sure to cover the edges. That should help to stop any further flaking. The only other option would appear to be a new switch unit but I guess that might be quite a job to fit.

Iv'e always found that anything touched up with a black indelible marker pen always end up with a sort of golden/bronze hue.
IMO stick with the matt black touch up paint, that area is so small it would be barely visible
