Wider front Tyres for 19inch Venoms

Post by Thomass » Thu Aug 08, 2019 11:42 am

Hi all

Has anyone fitted 235/40/19 at the front for their Venoms as compared to the recommended 225/40/19?

Online fitment calculator said it can be done (wisest possible tyre for 7.5j wheel) but just want to check if anyone has done it

My reason for doing so is two-fold: to gain a bit more comfort, and to balance out the gain in high difference (switching over from 18inch templars)

Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I havent done it, but another benefit is that it gives a bit more meat to stop kerb rash. I did that on my car, and used michelin pss's which have a nice ridge running around them as well

Thanks! I’m looking at the PS4S which has a nice deep rim protector as well.

After some thoughts, I’ve decided that I will stick to the recommended size from Jaguar so that the spare wheel would still come in useful when needed

But it's no use with a blow-out, unlike the spare wheel

I don't understand the issue with the spare being a problem with different wheels.
All XE wheels have the same rolling diameter/circumference and the spare matches that so its ok for any wheel from 17" up to 20".

And joking aside, it can be used in the case of a blowout, unlike the can of goo!

Hi, you are right if we follow the recommended tyre sizes. I was thinking of getting wider than recommended for the fronts. In the end, I decided to stick to the recommended size :)
