Hi everyone. It's nice to e-meet you all.

I will be picking up 2015 Jaguar XE S 340 next week from the dealer in London.

I'd like to ask you all why there are so much hates toward XE S on car's review websites and forums like pistonheads?

Also, could you kindly guide me where I could get advice on getting my XE S to sound like F Type V6 S in term of pops, bangs and crackles? :D . Please refer me to specialist garages in London or South East of England that can do the job. I'm also open to South West and Midlands too.

Hope you all having a great day!

Rabiiihab.

Ah, Pistonheads... You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy!

But seriously, there are some really good folks on there, and a lot of folks who would vote for a Reliant Robin for car of the year so long as it had a BMW/Audi/Mercedes badge on it

Can't advise on pops, bangs and crackles, but I'm sure someone here may be able to help.

I'll keep that mind about Pistonheads... I had a Mercedes Benz C Class 2014, got fed up with it as there are so many of them!

I'll go through the xe forums to find the mods guidance, thanks.

It will pop and crackle but you have to learn how to do it. Best way is to go into dynamic mode, manual in second gear, accelerate with the throttle over 50% ish open, let off around 5k rpm then as its coasting down just tap the throttle (not hard enough to make the car move forward) then you should hear it. It takes some practise

RE the reviews, pistonheads is probably the worst car community I've ever seen. I feel like the XE S is a bit misunderstood, it's old school and engineered for maximum fun and driving pleasure. They spent a lot of money on the rear suspension alone and that's why it handles well

Congrats on the purchase, you'll definitely enjoy it

Just have a read of the major magazine and online reviews of the XE.
It consistently comes out better than the BMW 3 series and the Audi A4 for ride and handling.
That put a few noses out of joint so it gets labelled as an "old man's car" etc etc.
The inconvenient truth is that it looks better, steers and handles better and has the ability to cruise or bruise.
The S really gets them wound up as it tends to knock spots off their 340i's and S4's and can sit very nicely on the bumper of their M"frees" and RS4's which also tends to annoy them.

I'm not sure the XE S is a "pops, bangs and crackles" kind of car and I haven't personally seen any modded ones around. The exhaust does sound good (and quite loud) but it's difficult to provoke additional noise from it. And let's be honest, driving in one of London's many 20mph zones hammering and lifting off the throttle constantly between speed bumps to make lots of noise (as I see lots of BMW/Merc/Audi/VW drivers do), doesn't look that great.

You can have a lot more fun with the car if you take it out of London onto some B roads. I recommend a stretch between Chipping Ongar and High Roding, if you're based in North or East London.

Agree with PhilB to add, I really appreciate the honesty of the Jags - I have friends who have fake exhaust note piped through the stereo! Fake exhaust pipes, fake vents etc. Jag doesn't pull the wool over people's eyes and make out their cars are more than they really are, that's why the 'S' is a 'Q' car. I like that.

I live in Enfield and I drive in Welwyn Garden City and some areas in Hertfordshire sometimes... A1 tunnel under The Galleria 8-) I will drive in the stretch as you suggested! Thanks!

Totally agree with you, Phil. I went through every review and YouTube videos on XE S. I can confirm that I made the right decision to purchase the car :D Jaguar has done the great job. It's the shame they discontinued the V6-supercharged XE and XF
