Got our new car

Post by JiggyJag » Tue Dec 01, 2020 7:27 pm

Old hand on the forum but we've got a new car - E-Pace P200 Chequered Flag.
Really enjoying the car even though a big change from the XE.

Like the ease of getting in and out, the more practical boot and driving experience overall.
Love the InTouch Pro interface and uprated navigation system.
Missing the tight cornering and howl of the P250 XE engine.

Overall a good change and happy to be staying with my JLR.
I'll post again when we've got a few more miles on her!

Lovely looking SUV and in red with black wheels really stands out. It would be really interesting once you’ve driven her for a few weeks to give a comparison to the XE. Enjoy your new car!.

Will do Mitch, just difficult to get the miles on at the moment with working from home.
As a package the Chequered Flag is good value - essentially an S Dynamic with black pack, dark grey wheels, electric boot, glass roof, keyless entry and interactive driver display.

Looks the biz. I was thinking over it but the poor px price offered on mine made the decision for me. I’ll wait and see when they start producing the XEs again and maybe try again. Good luck in your new cat 😎

Got to be good as it's a red one!!!
I think your knowledge of the XE might come in handy over on the E-Pace forums as they are chatting about things that we all know very well.
Often the issues are very simple but they don't have the background knowledge of the systems etc that are common between the two.
Glad you went for the petrol too.

handsome car, I do like the compact look of the E-Pace. I'd be interested to know how the real world fuel economy is for the petrol version, I hear E-pace is a weighty car? how is the handling vs the XE?

We were lucky in that we placed the order, for a stock car, a few days before the price changes.
The E-Pace went up and the XE down so would have been a double whammy.
I'm sure the XE prices will recover in time.

I've started posting some bits and have been well received.
Generally quieter over there, which is odd with the numbers being sold.
Seems cordial so far and stick around here also. Always good to spread the knowledge.
Can't see me going back to diesel after all the sensor issues I had and I just don't do enough miles.

The size is deceptive, pretty much the same length and width as the XE, higher off the ground is the main change for me.
I seem to be getting about 28mpg compared to 35 with the XE but still running in.
Handling is very good although I've not really pushed it yet, very little roll on corners and feels planted with the AWD.
I'll get a few more miles on and report back.

I like the look of the car and had one as a courtesy car last year. What I did notice about the drive, was that because you are perched higher the car seemed to jiggle from side to side, which I found tiring and uncomfortable and was pleased to get back into the XE. It'll be interesting to hear if you experience the same with your new E Pace. Having said that, I would still consider one myself as it is easier to get in and out of and it is a more practical car, but I would need a long test drive first.
