P2138 code

Post by antibabes » Fri May 14, 2021 8:07 pm

Tried to go for a drive and car went into retricted performance, used my bluetooth obd scanner and got code P2138

Web search says this

P2138 - Generic
Type Powertrain - Fuel and Air Metering and Auxiliary Emission Controls - ISO/SAE Controlled
Description
Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "D"/"E" Voltage Correlation

Any ideas?

I dont have a warranty, and would preferably like to fix it myself.

Thanks

Cheers, guess ill check the wiring for shorts etc, and if thats not an issue i guess i replace the pedal as it looks like the sensor is molded in

Quick update, took the pedal out this morning, only 2 t30 torx bolts that aren't very tight, noticed that the sensor is held on by a t20 torx and some clips.
Managed to break 2 of the clips getting the sensor off, to find it is definitely molded in, and it appears the pedal has 3 tiny contacts which press against plasic, so i assume they are magnets.
Put it back together using cable ties for the broken clips, checked the wires, visually they are fine, unfortunately there was no way of me using my volt metre to check them.
Refitted and reset the eml and its all working again!
Ordered a replacement pedal anyway as i dont like the idea of the cable ties holding it together
