Hitting Cancel just makes the exact same dialog box appear again, for the next port, until it eventually hits the jackpot (in my case drive M!). I guess it wasn't tested much on machines with lots of USB ports.
just make sure it is a usb3 because it doesn't read usb2

Yeah? Thanks for the tip. I'll find out when it's done downloading - a mate gave it to me so I don't actually know ...

Good to know! I can't look now 'cos said plug is in the port being fed data, rather slowly, but I have a feeling mine isn't blue. This may end up being a job for tomorrow :)

All done. My USB stick doesn't have a blue connector but it worked well enough - either it's USB3 but hides it out of sheer modesty, or USB3 is recommended, but USB2 will do in a pinch.

Thanks for the help all.

What procedure did you guys use in the car?
I have it all on a USB stick, followed the instructions of:
Start car
Insert USB stick

But I don't get an on-screen prompt. Are you guys going in to the navigation screen before inserting the stick?
I've tried both USB ports and multiple variations of fresh boot / drive a bit first / start nav first / wait on home screen and insert stick...

Also what size USB stick did you use? I only have 16GB and 64GB sticks - the 16's are too small as the update is 17GB, but 64's are too big for officially formatting to FAT32 which the downloader requires (but can be done).

I didn't get any response at first, after inserting the stick, but switching to navigation brought it to life. It does have to be FAT32 for sure.

I've formatted a 64GB stick using FAT32, but no dice. So I've got a 32GB stick coming tomorrow morning. Yay for Amazon prime.

This is where I got the tip from the dealer that has to be a USB3 stick. No reaction with the USB2 one.
It worked for ash though :o
