I have a strange one, in that my journey to and from work approx. 19 miles via same route
Mornings average 55mpg, evenings average 45mpg, speed about the same with a large part of journey on cruise control at 50-55mph, very strange, Best I have had is about 65mpg on another route.
I have also found that the only modes that make much difference to mpg is having it in dynamic and with gearbox in sports mode, but hey that is fun so who cares :)

I get that effect on a 100 mile journey to and from Lincoln. I suspect it's because it's 300 feet lower at the destination than here, and also the prevailing wind is away from here towards Lincoln. The run is mostly motorway, with 20 miles or so along the very straight A15. It's the same whichever car I have used.

45 to 62 mpg (UK) very much depending on how I drive the car. 55 mpg is always possible without any special effort.

I usually manage around 55 mpg for my commute, mostly A roads. Motorways I can get around 60 mpg. Best result so far is 67 mpg - that's driving home from the dealership, a bit more timid than I drive these days!

Over the last few days, however, I've had 2 instances of 45 mpg - once in the morning on A roads, once in the evening on the motorway. Has anyone else had odd dips in their consumption figures for individual journeys? I wondered if maybe it was related to DPF regen, but I wouldn't expect that to happen during my A-road driving.

Atmospheric pressure and temp can affect fuel consumption.

Amazed that mpg others are reporting on this thread is so low. Done 33k so far and have averaged 66mpg so far. XE 178 mostly in economy mode. Summer driving I normally reach 66-70mpg and in winter around 62-65mpg. Occasionally get a poorer drive e.g. 50-55mpg but assume it is due to particulate burn.

Best I've had on a 20 mile+ drive was 94mpg.

I'm totally amazed at your mpg figures. I am not particularly heavy footed, never use s/s or eco and always drive in dynamic. Over 2 years and about 15k I have averaged 44mpg measured on the the actual amount of fuel used. If I'm on a motorway I usually drive at 75mph on the clock which in reality is of course 70mph. I am assuming your figures are taken from the computer. I have seen averages on my computer of up to 67mpg but never any higher and normally on a run it's around 60mpg. But when I look at the tankfull to tankfull figures they are always about 15mpg less.

Have you ever worked out your consumption from tankfull to tankfull?
