Re: Insurance Comedy Quotes

My last post disappeared. Saga just quoted £447 inc Recovery and £320 without. AVIVA was £397 with full RAC cover or £320 without. Saga also uses spyware as the comparison was shown against Aviva and the details were incorrect regarding the cover. It still makes me wonder if these companies are all con men.

One other thing is I opted for my own repairer with Aviva but Saga has "Approved" repairers which from past experience 22 years back was a deal on an insurance and a major repairer did a job on one of my cars then using bum pattern parts with a lousy paint finish (Returned 3 times) damaged headlamp not replaced until complained about and most clips from a bonnet seal missing which they insisted wern't there in the first place. That was a load of tosh. The Jaguar dealer I have now was my old Rover dealer and we had my wife's car repired there when someone ran into the back of her. Absolutely faultless repair with no paint shade difference. When we finally sold it one of their techies bought it for his dad as he knew how good the car was. I am going to get some more quotes and am not suggesting Saga and Aviva are bad or good.

I have done LV £357 with recovery also Morethan at a similar price and both have recommended repairers with an £200 option to go elsewhere. They are all coming in very similar prices with variations, as usual, for options that some have free and others charge for. Fantastic prices from some but the excesses are up to £700. Well no thanks.

How right you are, having insurance is a legal requirement, and 3rd party companies can apparently charge what they want , just so you can comply with the law. :(

Had a few companies offer cover for £10700, with a £2200 excess, and i had to have a black box and tracker fitted at my expense, obviously not in the real world, or definately con-men.

A few were not giving a quote, as i was a 'Biker' and am apparently a bad risk, due to speed and doing track days! ( i tour not race),........after 46 years of 2 wheelers, with only 3 claims, of which only 1 was my fault :o

I have just got back from hospital, I split my sides laughing at some of these quotes and needed sewing back up. AVIVA have somehow stuck the £200 excess on for non recommended repaire after I checked details and clicked update quote.

Funnily enough staying with Quote me happy (AVIVA) my quote was £20 less that last year and with full RAC came out at £389 so rather than mess about I have stayed with them. I did remove the auto renew and wonder if that made them drop the price thinking I was looking elsewhere. They also must know I was looking at the AVIVA site as well.

   Latest comedy quote is, my motorcycle insurance, i have a multi bike cover, and am changing one bike from a Honda ST1300 Pan European to a BMW R1200RS, 4 months left of cover.....Carole Nash with Aviva, wanted £900+ for the remaining 4 months cover!!!! twice the original whole policy cost, this is with 27 years (protected)no claims, and a large voluntary excess, Individual policies for all 3 bikes only comes to £700 with another provider, and that is what i have gone for.

Another insurance rip off, considering I've been a happy(ish) Aviva customer for 40 years, what the hell is going on?

Rant over, now breathe....Aaaahhhh.

I have received mine from Saga - an increase of £150 from last year to £568 with a reduced level of cover. Are they kidding? I really don’t understand where they get their figures from. When I did the comparison website it varied wildly between £350 and £850 a year. Just had a good one from Aviva so it looks like they will be getting my business this year. I find it all very frustrating and irritating and it is obvious that loyalty is absolutely not rewarded.

Bev try their online arm Quote Me Happy (Aviva) it's a bit cheaper with the same cover.
