Favorite Petrol Fuel?
Re: Favorite Petrol Fuel?
My previous 163 didn’t get on with Esso diesel, so I only tried it once. I believe they have recently reformulated and I had a low fuel warning in my new 180 diesel and bought some on the way home. The next tank I put in Shell V Power, so was able to compare. To my amazement not only did my 180 prefer the Esso (much smoother, quieter and slightly better performance), but I am also getting better mpg. The best thing of all is that the Esso is cheaper than the basic Shell. Happy days.

Re: Favorite Petrol Fuel?
I put half a tank of 99 in at the w/e to do some kind of 'objective-ish' test against the standard 95. I agree with Phil the engine did seem more eager, I didn't do a mpg test this time as I've done it before and I did get a few extra mpg with 'Super'. But I was impressed with the 99. I wonder whether 99 has more of an effect with the V6 engine? Maybe.

Re: Favorite Petrol Fuel?
I'm wondering what JLR is trying to tell me with their recommendation:
So what makes a standard 95 fuel a "premium 95 fuel"?
On the 3.0 they're calling it "premium unleaded fuel with minimum 95 ROZ" and on the 2.0 they're calling it "super with minimum 95 ROZ".
So what makes a standard 95 fuel a "premium 95 fuel"?

Re: Favorite Petrol Fuel?
In some markets the premium fuel is 95, and in a few markets it is 95+, Some countries i've been to (on a motorcycle) have 91/92 Octane, this causes horrendous 'pinking', (pre ignition in the cylinders, that can cause serious damage), so need to beware of that. All JLR is saying is 'A minimum of 95).colonie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 12:24 amI'm wondering what JLR is trying to tell me with their recommendation:

I use supermarket fuel all the time, and maybe every 5th or 6th tank being premium grade. And if i travel 'abroad', on departure and arrival home to UK i always give it the best i can get to help clean out any low grade stuff.
